We went there for the atmosphere/ambiance, delicious and creative food, and exceptional service. We sat at the bar, met Roy, he was delightful. We had an appetizer, drinks, meal, & dessert. It was the escape that I needed, a mental reset from this crazy world. Much appreciated.

i have been to d&t several times over the years are they have been pretty cool experiences. but this last time was much different. the vibe is always great, it feels fancy without being stuffy. the food sounds yummy on paper but it did not deliver in reality. most things were lacking an attention to detail, namely seasoning and salt. the proteins were generally seasoned well, but every other component on every dish (the sauces, the starch elements, etc) we tried was under seasoned, whether it be salt or acid. at this price point, you'd really expect things to be stellar, and they just werent this time. the server, i think he was a back waiter, was also VERY intrusive physically, to the point that it had to be done intentionally. when he would reset our table or refill waters, he would get so close to my (and my dining partner's) face that I could feel his breath directly on me, it was really uncomfortable. i really wanted d&t to be a reliable, exciting fine dining restaurant to come to, but it really missed the mark, and given the prices im not sure I will be back.

I love that this place is reservation, but I think you can go to the bar without one. I had the Long Island strip and my date for the evening had Steak Tartare, both were AMAZING. Also the Shrimp share platter, very much worth the wait! Quiet and relaxing. Our waitress was very professional and attentive. Dessert was chocolate cream cheese, I think lol. It was great. When you have a little extra, this place is 5-Star awesome!

Due to the high praise this place receives, we came in a bit skeptical with our expectations and Death & Taxes hit all the high marks and exceeded those expectations as we spent the evening at an unsuspecting location - the bar. The bar staff were exceptional in every way to their in depth knowledge of the menu, wine and drink pairing recommendations and even a surprise digestif at the end of the meal. The food was delicious, well prepared and the larger than expected portion sizes were a nice surprise. Even with a reserve wine purchase (from an eye opening wine list mind you) I felt the bill didn't break the wallet considering the exceptional meal we had just experienced. What a gem.

Absolutely delicious! Every single bite & sip! Service was impeccable, the wine recommendation was spot on and the bourbon to finish the night with dessert was perfection.

We made a reservation for chefs table well in advance for Valentine’s Day pre fixe. Phenomenal spread with simple but elegant preparations. The local oak fired elements added a complex smokiness and char to each respective dish. Excellent wine selection and cocktails. Server was friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come back to this perfect date night spot.

What an awesome experience with amazing food. We loved everything that we tried, and will definitely be back! The staff provided outstanding service and from start to finish we felt welcomed and cared for. The non alcoholic anniversary toast beverage was one of the best drinks we’ve had. Thank you!

Haven't done my taxes yet but the State owes me a lot of money since I have a son! Goonies never say death or die! Pirates ECU Camelot Alumni thing you'd have to be born there to understand!

Fantastic service and incredible food!! Our waitress was very attentive to my dietary restrictions and I was very thankful for that. She did a great job outlining the menu with my food allergies in mind. They use a wood fire cooking technique which made everything taste even better!Dietary restrictions: The kitchen was very open to accommodating dietary restrictions/food allergies.

Not only were the wood-fire style dishes so good, but the staff was very nice and accommodating of my wife’s food allergies.

We've been several times before - but I don't think I've ever posted a review. It's always been great.. but last night in particular, they nailed everything perfectly. Brussel spouts are amazing! The steak and potatoes - also amazing. Bitter green with the deep fried egg - great way to start. The chicken with beans had a very tasty base. Oh and dessert - yeah.. bravo!
