This was our first visit. And we were very impressed. They know their coffee varieties and are more than capable of recommending a pour over coffee based on your likes/needs. The cappuccino I had was delicious. The everything bagel and cream cheese was unexpectedly delicious. We will be back and hate that we waited so long to check them out!
Dog sitting in the area and walked over for coffee. I was pleasantly surprised. Avocado toast and a latte and plenty of seating.
Love the atmosphere, clean and chill. Good coffee.
I am surprised this place has not shut down considering the amount of health code violations it seems to hold. My nephew used to work here and told me about the lack of sanitation and expired food. I was in a pinch for lunch and thought it could not be that bad. I got a latte and a sandwich. The milk tasted soured and the turkey was off as well. I would advise against coming here. The only pro was the fast service and nice workers.
Great food and quick service.
My husband and I just moved here couple weeks ago from South Florida. We both love their coffee. My latte was really smooth and actually tasted the coffee in it. My husband had the Cortado and was very pleased with it. I also had the smoked salmon everything bagel, which was amazing. Overall we enjoyed the place and the service was personable.
Editing my former review because I'm pretty tired of the inconsistency. I had previously said I enjoyed everything but the oatmilk quality. The first few times I came here it was perfect, then all of a sudden it was like they were watering down the oatmilk. Then the quality went back to creamy for 2 drinks and today my latte is sour and watery like an americano again. Keeping the service 5 Star because the barista was friendly.
I want to love this place, I really do. But I've seen how fast staff turn over, and I've heard so many complaints over the years about how the owners treat staff and even customers.
Everything is wildly overpriced, the food is not great or consistent quality, and they'll nickel and dime you every chance they can. If you order a bagel with cream cheese, you will get the thinnest possible smear of cream cheese on it. If you order an iced drink and ask for less ice, they will literally charge you $0.25 for that.
Every time I've tried a macaron there, they're so stale that they're rock solid. I've seen cake in the display that was there for nearly a week. Some of their pastries/treats are just repackaged from Sam's Club/BJ's/etc. and sold at a big upcharge.
Yes, it's decent food and coffee. For that it earns two stars. But treating staff and customers poorly, inconsistent food quality, blatant stinginess and greedy practices, and some of the things former employees have exposed about this business (easily found online) are all reasons you should NOT go to New World Cafe.
Good gluten free toast. Coffee was nice and quick. Lots of seating and natural light.

Unprofessional Service and Poor Customer Relations
I visited this establishment on a Saturday morning after 11 am and ordered a latte to go. Although there weren’t many customers seated, there were a few people standing and waiting. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes for my latte, which seemed unusually long.
When my order was finally brought out, I politely mentioned the long wait to the employee, only to receive a rude response: “Go to Starbucks,” followed by her immediately turning her back to me.
I decided not to address the issue with the manager immediately, but after cooling down for a few minutes, I returned to calmly explain what had happened. Unfortunately, the manager seemed more defensive and annoyed than willing to listen.
While I understand that service can sometimes take longer, especially during busy periods, the lack of empathy from both the employee and manager is simply unacceptable. A serious establishment should prioritize customer service and professionalism, and this experience fell far short of those standards.

This has been my favorite local coffee for 2-3 years. However, the inconsistency in how the coffees are made has become too noticeable. Some days I can get a great, balanced Mocha latte, for example. Other days, somehow there is 2-3x the amount of sugar/syrup added, making them undrinkable, disappointing, and a waste of money and time. This is especially true when an order may ask for "Light Syrup" then was clearly disregarded for my wife yet again.
I don't know why the quality changes so much per visit or delivery, but it has resulted in us being disappointed too many times recently to continue visiting.
Edit/Update: The past few visits & deliveries have been fairly consistent again after taking some time away. I'm adjusting this rating to reflect that.

First of all, this might only be the second time I've ever gotten on line to complain about a business. Employees have off days - I get that. Because this involved the owner and terrible customer service, I feel the need to write a review. I had never been here before and had coffee with a coworker here this morning. Then, after picking up from a doctor's appt, I remembered I saw a drive through so went to swing by to get her a drink and myself a sandwich rather than going to a big box coffee chain. I pulled in the drive through but it had a printed paper saying you have to order online (there is no link so I had to google New World Cafe and it came up with a website to order). I tried to click on the box multiple times and if finally worked, I input my order and paid at 12:25. It said it would be ready at 12:40. I went inside just to wait there and leave my daughter in the car at 12:30. 10 min prior to the order estimated time. They didn't have my name and I told her I was early but she checked and realized I had ordered at another location in Durham. (I didn't even know there were two locations and at the top is showed current location. Admittedly I was moving fast to order in the parking lot and didn't hyperanalyze the order confirmation). She didn't know how to solve the problem and just kind of shrugged (but she said it was her second day so I'll give her grace). So I called the Durham location and they said this has happened before and they can transfer the order but had to call a manager or someone and then would call the Raleigh location. Then it seemed like nothing was happening and the owner (of both locations) called the manger at the Raleigh location to tell her that she could only make me a sandwich and I'd have to reorder and pay for a new coffee. I was shocked. They had been on the phone for at least a min and a half but when I asked her why and how that could be, she just kind of shrugged and said "that's what he said". She didn't seem super customer facing or problem solving. I asked her to call him back. He didn't answer. At this point it was 12:40 and I felt like this was taking forever and it was ridiculous and nobody at the Raleigh location seemed to really care so I decided to just leave and get in the car to get my daughter home. I called back to the Durham location and asked to have the owner call me. He called me and basically said it was not his problem that I ordered at the wrong place and he wasn't willing to absorb the cost of 1 cup of coffee since I should have noticed it was ordered at the wrong place but he wasn't willing to have them remake my coffee at the correct location because they had made my coffee already in Durham. This is so short sighted. If it was different owners or even a remotely expensive item I would have understood but seriously to be so dogmatic about it and when 1. I'm clearly not the only person who this happened to so it's easy to do and 2.the online ordering system is glitchy and it didn't pull my location and/or give me drop down options. He argued with me (as he looked at his laptop) that it's easy to see but when you are on your phone and trying to order, it's a big blue box and I just thought I had to click within the box to order). For someone new at that business who didn't even know there were two locations I would think being in the parking lot would cue the website to the correct location and 3. the cost of helping get the customer the drink is a little espresso and milk is cheap. It was so short sighted. I would NEVER support this business again because of how poorly this was handled. Part of being in a customer facing industry you'll have to absorb costs for mistakes that happen all the time but this owner is not customer service oriented. I would think a local place would have better service than a big box chain but not so much. Their system would have known the right location and they would have likely been happy to make me a drink and sandw

If there is a better Cappuccino out there I simply haven't found it. This place makes truly excellent coffee drinks in telling you. I have studied abroad in Italy, lived all over New England, including Boston for 5 years, but this place tops those.
