Nice quaint place, almost drove pass it. Cash or checks only, no cards!! No fountain drinks only bottles and sweet tea on every table. Waitress was very friendly. I had a fried bologna sandwich with lettuce and tomato. This may not seem like much, but the tomato was actually good. You know when you go places and ask for tomatos and lettuce on a sandwich, and you get a barely ripe tomato and a tiny piece of lettuce. Not this time, they were perfect. The grits were also cooked perfectly. I was told the Biscuits were fluffy and sausage gravy w/biscuits were good, and they gave a ton of gravy.
I would go again and would recommend!!

The food is NOT worth the price and beware, you will be in the bathroom quickly. Food was greasy, molasses tasted old, coffee was basically tea colored water! ?. And also note that they don't tell you that credit cards are not accepted until you pay the bill! Will never be back.

This is a must for us every Saturday. Yes the food is really good (the only place my toddlers will eat eggs) but what makes it special for our family of five (two toddlers and a newborn) is the service. The staff feels like family. They make my children feel so welcome and greet us so warmly. Really feels like the whole experience is one Southern comfort hug. A place to go when you need a pick-me-up in more ways than one. Some examples of their hospitality: greeting us with hugs and well wishes; noticing I had a baby and giving me (and my two toddlers) gifts the next time they saw me; writing handwritten notes on our takeout when one of us is sick and can’t make it in; giving the kids their own biscuits as soon as they sit down to help keep them busy; helping distract the kids if they are a little antsy or fussy; giving the kids candy on their way out the door. We chose the best place to become regulars and we cherish every Saturday morning we spend here!

A true country Gem in the city. Open early, staff makes u feel like u are at grandmother's eating breakfest. Reminded me of a small country store where locals gather to eat breakfast before going off to work. Anytime I am in Raleigh, this is my place for breakfast. The food is awesome! A must eat for country cooking.

FIRST TIME VISTORS BEWARE!....Food was good! Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was quickly drained when it was time to pay the bill. I noticed an ATM machine upon approaching the cashier. Initially, I thought it was only there in case you wanted to leave a tip for the service. As I got closer to the cashier, I saw a sign that stated that "No credit cards or debit cards were accepted". They only accept cash or checks. It took my wife and I awhile to figure out how to get cash out of the ATM. I saw that there was a charge for the ATM and I know that my bank charges for ATM withdrawals. All of a sudden, my meal became more expensive to my dismay. Once I figure out how to get cash out of the ATM, I told the cashier that I was very unhappy about only being able to pay in cash or a check. I asked her if there was a sign that I missed when I first walked in and she stated that it was. I went to the front of the establishment and did not see any sign that mentioned the cash or checks only policy. The only sign that I saw was that "gift cards are accepted". I told the cashier that there was no sign and she stated that "the ATM only charges a dollar". She didn't seem to understand the inconvenience of not having the payment policy on the front door so that you can decide PRIOR to patronizing the business. This business traps you into an bad situation by allowing you to consume your meal and then you are forced into an outdated payment policy. This works fine for any returning customers because they know upfront, but it's a terrible policy for first time visitors. Accordingly, this has left a bad taste in my mouth and I WILL NOT RETURN because of the policy not being posted in front of the establishment and the cashier's attitude once I made her aware of this.....It appears if this establishment intentionally didn't post the payment policy and only makes you aware when it's too late to leave without paying!

OMG!!! I’m from up North and have yet to taste good southern food until today. Wow, WOW, wow. First and foremost the best customer I’ve experienced the last 3 years I’ve been here! The ladies are all so welcoming and sweet. It’s no fluff you can tell they are just naturally sweet women. I got the flounder dinner, collards and cucumbers. It was soooo good! For $13.25 I got a nice size piece of flounder, slaw, two sides, a biscuit and hush puppies. You can not beat that for real home cooked southern food. It was packed but by the time I sat down to wait for my food it was done!!! Bring cash when you go but a MUST TRY!!

Breakfast was fine but when paying the bill, they don’t accept credit cards?? Wha? They had an atm machine that didn’t work! Eventually I did find a second atm (who has two atm’s??) and got it to work. Big hassle. There were no signs that told me this in advance either. Not again.
