I really loved the one on Hillsborough street. I always kind of expect a small wait for fresh food and never minded. today I went to their new location and as of this review I have waited over 44 minutes for food. that's not counting the 3-5 minutes we had to wait for someone to even come take our order. the only reason we waited for her to tske the order that long is we really like the food but after this experience I dont think I would be back.

I love a black owned business and love supporting my people but we have to do better. I’ve had the dankery from the new birch location and it was great I did door dash and food came pretty fast. I went to the Hillsbough st location and the first thing was the kitchen floor was so dirty and slippery by the bathrooms. The mop bucket is sitting in plain site, gloves not being changed and scratching a face with gloves on. I got my order and looked at my fries and I got the crumbs of the fries so I asked for another order and got so little and I didn’t get my queso on my fries. My food was ordered online and was supposed to be done by 6:53pm I got there at that time and waited an extra hour for my food. I didn’t want to complain anymore about anything while I was there they did seem pretty busy. I won’t be going back to this location.

The people are great, the food is good , but the sanitation here is rough. You can smell their grease trap before you even make it to the building, and if you walk 5 feet, you can see the state it’s in too- trash left everywhere, boxes of the sauces they use, and it looks like they haven’t cleaned in months. Wouldn’t be a big deal if the quality of the food wasn’t directly impacted by the lack of cleanliness.

I’m all for supporting Black businesses. I believe firmly in building “us” up & normally would not even think of leaving a review. However, I was so let down by the experience I can’t help but leave a review. MY FOOD WAS TRASH. I got tenders and Fries & it was absolutely not good at all. The fries I would think would be a BIG thing but I was clearly disappointed. It’s almost like they cook too many fries at once. None of the fries were hot. Some were cold! Customer service was okay. My only argument with this would be the fact that no one had on hair nets & a lot were in shirts and crocs. With an open kitchen setup the way this one is I would think it would be a thing to have your kitchen staff properly dressed.. etc. No hair nets… No gloves.. flors were filthy…. It’s almost like a group of kids running the place. Also… the reviews you see about the place smelling like burnt grease…. Believe it. The smell was very strong & clear to see as soon as I opened my tray of tenders. They used burnt grease all night!
Again I’m for building “us” up. I’m also for holding us accountable. This place is nowhere near what I was thinking. From a scale of 0/10 I would give it a .5 minimum.

Dankery is an amazing food spot and I would have no complaints if it wasn’t for the worker that keeps telling me they don’t have nuggets available. What is the point of having it on the menu if I haven’t been able to get nuggets the last 4 times I’ve been. I really think it’s just laziness which sucks because the manager is very nice dude that shouldn’t deserve this bad review.

The teriyaki wings and bacon queso fries slappin! Keke and Kiara were awesome from the minute I walked in. I explained to Kiara what I was hungry for and she gave me 3 great recommendations. Settled on the 6 piece wing tray and Keke went 2 work, cooking up this delicious explosion of flavor. Let’s talk about these wings and how healthy, meaty, and no kind of fat in sight they were. These were clearly grand champion birds my friends. Purple ribbon 4H sh*t, ok? FFA proud. Oowwee. So, I gave my number and was kindly told they’d text me when ready. So I sat outside at one of their lovely tables and seats, which they will gladly set up for you, just ask. This was the first of many more trips to come from a new Carolinian via Michigan. Great people, great food, and a great atmosphere.

My first time visiting this restaurant, I was highly disappointed. I waited over an hour for my food. I see that it was a lot of people in the restaurant, but I feel like they need a better system when it comes down to the food and the order process. Or maybe they need more staff. The whole restaurant smelled like burnt grease, like the grease needed to be changed in the kitchen, And when I got my chicken wings, that’s exactly what they tasted like. After waiting over an hour, I had hot chicken, wings, and cold french fries. I was highly disappointed with the food itself. My friend suggested that we came here after being out late night. Definitely not doing it again. Hopefully the service and the full time is better or different in the daytime.

We enjoyed our food, there was a bit of a long wait but we were catching up with our friends from out of town so we didn't mind it too too much. There were a lot of people already waiting ahead of us; it was a busy Friday night.
The cashier was pretty cool and was patient with my indecisive self.
The banana pudding was really good.
The music was a little too loud to conversate without raising our voices.
Overall I enjoyed my first time here and may try again next time we are on that side of town

i will preface this with it was my first trip to the dankery, it took about 20 minutes to have my order taken, they were busy i get it. but once i ordered i asked if it would be more than a 30 minute wait (told the guy i live close by and would go home & come back if i had time) he tells me it would be 25-30 minutes an hour and 20 later i get my food. fries are nothing to run home about, the chicken on the other hand was pretty good.

My adult kids and I went there last night. Initially it was cool, music was great and staff was friendly. After waiting over an hr I went to check on our order and couldn’t even get anyone to talk to me. Abt 20 min later my daughter and I are at the counter asking what’s going on. At this point I’ve seen 3 ppl who ordered after us receive their food and leave. Unacceptable!! Initially I was told it was on the line and being packed. So we waited another 15+. At this pt it’s abt 1230AM and we are frustrated. So I just ask for a refund. I was told “we don’t do refunds, ur wings just started cooking u will have your food in a few” so now I’m pissed bc the guy lied to get me to be quiet. She’s refusing me a refund AND I still didn’t have my food!! We paid a lil over $40 for just us 2 (there were 7 of us total) and this was by far in my top 3 worst restaurant experiences ever!! Never again!! This was my first and last time visiting this place!!
