One Step Outside
Baristas were very accommodating but the place had completely run out of all milks... Not just one type, ALL except for heavy cream. My latte made with heavy cream was okay. It was odd that they did not make a sign and instead chose to have to repeat to each new guest that they were missing the main ingredient in most coffee shops. The breakfast sandwich was delicious but the French toast could use a little more time soaking in the egg mix. It was close to toast that had been brushed with egg, not what I expected for a southern establishment. I will return and give it another go as I loved the location and atmosphere.

I really wanted to be giving another 5 star rating here, but stopping in to get something quick because I am traveling, and then getting in my car to get back on the road, and preparing to eat my sandwich on the road, only to find out it’s SO burnt, I feel very dissatisfied with the waste here. My coffee is good and if I only had ordered that, my experience would’ve been better. Also, if ‘books’ is the start of your business name, make the books more accessible. Why would there be a seating area in front of the book wall so the books being presented couldn’t actually be picked up and looked at because people are sitting in front of them?

A perfect example of why I love independent stores. The shop has a cool theme and everything I've had there has been great! The staff are all very friendly. It has a very relaxed environment, and outside the atmosphere of the Rocky Mount Mills is quite pleasant. Plus it's only a short walk away from Battle Park!

It was my first time there. I ordered an iced coffee and bagel.
The staff was friendly, and willing to adjust the sweetness of drinks. My iced coffee was lightly sweetened, which I prefer.
The bagel was toasted, and the wildberry cream cheese was very good.
It is located at Mills in Rocky Mount, which is one of my favorite places to go.
I want to come back and try some of the dishes based on book titles. Coffee and books just go together!
The food was amazing, staff friendly, and we adored the reclaimed building vibe. Prices were great too! Glad we stopped in on our way through!

They always are so nice there - visiting is often the highlight of my day :) I have definitely come in close to when they are closing, and they still served with a smile :) Recommend the Taro latte (they even put lavender in it I think??) so good.

Nice place. Friendly staff. Only 2 gripes. Our sandwich was good. Brioche bun was fresh. But the eggs could use some salt. Pretty bland. Second, no decaf coffee options at all. We went there on a recommendation on their coffee. But they had nothing I could try. By having no decaf options available you’re eliminating all your prospective customers who have high blood pressure
