As part of exploring local food and the cultures behind it, Recipes of Culture recently visited Loteria located at 113 W Innes St, Salisbury, NC 28144, and it was a great experience. This family-owned restaurant from Guanajuato, Mexico brings authentic flavor and vibrant culture right to downtown Salisbury. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, colorful, and welcoming. The restaurant’s name is inspired by Lotería, a traditional Mexican game that dates back to the 1700s and is often compared to bingo. Instead of numbers, the game uses illustrated cards like El Gallo, La Sirena, and El Corazón. It’s a fun cultural tradition that many Mexican families grow up playing, so it’s great to see that cultural connection represented in the restaurant’s identity. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The portions were generous, and you can tell the dishes are made with care. Everything tasted authentic and satisfying, making it a solid spot for anyone craving Mexican food in the Salisbury area. At Recipes of Culture, we love highlighting places where food and culture come together, and Loteria is a great example of that. If you’re in Salisbury and looking to support a local business while enjoying great Mexican food, this is definitely a place worth visiting. — Recipes of Culture
I recently visited Loteria located at 113 W Innes St, Salisbury, NC 28144, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. This restaurant is a family-owned spot from Guanajuato, Mexico, and you can feel that cultural influence the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is colorful, welcoming, and relaxed, making it a nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal. The name “Lotería” is inspired by the traditional Mexican card game that dates back to the 1700s. Similar to bingo, the game uses illustrated cards like El Gallo (the rooster) and La Sirena (the mermaid). It’s a cultural staple in Mexico, so it was nice seeing a restaurant bring that cultural theme into their brand. As for the food, everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. The portions were solid, and the presentation looked great when the food came out. You can tell care was put into the preparation. The flavors were balanced and authentic, which is always something I appreciate when trying a local Mexican restaurant. The service was friendly, and the environment felt comfortable for families, friends, or anyone just looking for a good meal downtown. If you’re in Salisbury and looking to try something different or support a local restaurant, Loteria is definitely worth checking out.
I was unsure of what to get and was assisted by the man at the register. After a great exchange, I landed on four tacos (Pastor, Asada, Chorizo, & Pollo); each one was delicious. After my meal I was even given a complimentary cheesecake, which was also delicious.

The environment form the moment that you walk is so warm and welcoming and the gentleman taking our orders happy to explain what each item was Has become our new favorite date night spot
Found this amazing little taco spot right down the street and I’m really glad I did. It’s a quaint place right on Main Street with a great local feel. I ordered the birria tacos and they were absolutely delicious — packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. If you’re anywhere nearby, this place is a must-stop. Simple, authentic, and seriously good food.
Best mom and pop taco place place in Salisbury. There's nowhere to eat inside and only 2 chairs outside so its more of a takeout place. The food is authentic and fresh, very good!
