This place is SO GOOD. We stopped by and tried it on a whim one day and it's quickly become out favorite spot in Sanford. Super friendly staff, amazing service, hot and delicious food - you can't go wrong.

No frills luncheonette was an unexpected surprise. Ordered a BLT on sourdough and a cup of Big Bird Soup. The bread was grilled which made all the difference in the world — no weak BLT here. The cup of soup was more like a bowl. Full of shredded chicken and rice. Total bill was $12.57. Can’t beat the price. I don’t usually post reviews, but this place was a winner in my book.

Hash brown roller, Tex mex burrito was slamming. I came all the way from NY with a crew to eat a recommendation from a cashier clerk in a gas station who said Kathy’s Java Express. The friendly atmosphere, pleasant workers, food was awesome, very hygienic. Pick your own seat. And did I say the food was slamming . Very creative with the hash brown roller. Drop in and check it out for yourself. Don’t forget to leave a review.. z

Best matcha milk I’ve had. Their sandwiches and onion soup was hearty and delicious! The ladies were so kind too! Will definitely come back! Thanks for honoring the military!

DO NOT EAT HERE. Live bugs and insects crawling on the food.On 12 Jan. 2024 I saw live bugs and insects inside the pastry and cookie containers. I informed the waitress. The waitress verified the bugs were in the container with cookies and pastries. But the waitress did nothing. NOT EXAGGERATING. The waitress literally walked away and did not return to remove the insects or the food. She did nothing to help the customers from potentially getting sick as a result of the bugs crawling on the food. The employees continued to sell their food with live insects roaming around in the container. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Kathy’s Java Express.

Great sandwiches and coffee. The vidalia chicken sandwich was amazing. However, the french onion was a miss. Too salty, seemed like it was purely made with broth/stock and missed out on that deep onion flavor french onion soups are known for.

The food was a hit or miss on our table. Bird soup? Fantastic? Tomato and Basil sandwich, flavor was good except I think the tomatoes should have been sliced instead of diced. The diced tomatoes kept falling all over the place. It also needed more cheese and more pesto. The chicken quesadilla was ok. Again I thought the ratios were off. Too much chicken to cheese and also the chicken was too sweet. Savory is what I prefer, but if you prefer sweet chicken this is your quesadilla. No complaints on a salad. Well put together and tasted like a salad with dressing of choice. Easy enough. The price of everything was right on par with a small cafe. The atmosphere needs a slight update, but still very comfortable which is what a cafe needs.

I had a 1/2 grilled turkey and cheese sandwich which was good, and a crock of French onion soup. The soup tasted ok but was luke warm, the cheese didn't melt. We also tried bird soup which tasted very good but was also luke warm. When I was paying my bill I asked why it wasn't hot? The waitress said we were changing pots of soup and it wasn't warm yet. She said you could have told us and we would have warmed it up. No one came to ask if we needed anything after we started eating. We will try them again.

Best scones ever. Mine was to grab a mug and help yourself. Which is fine by me.
