As usual we LOVE the Library! Every time we come to Sapphire we can’t miss coming for dinner! The visit is always perfection! The food....stop it, I can’t find a single word to describe how fabulous it is! Everyone that works here always treats us like we've been friends for a lifetime. 🤩
We were denied indoor seating at The Library Kitchen & Bar in Sapphire, NC at the Sapphire Valley Resort because of my tasked trained Medical Alert Service Dog! We were told we could not sit inside where we made our reservation, we would have to go outside. When I explained that I needed to sit inside in the cooler environment, we were denied! Will be filing a complaint with the DOJ reporting them for non compliance with Federal ADA law! Way to ruin our vacation date night! The co-owner and manager Liz Klapdohr was extremely rude, rolled her eyes and just walked away mid conversation!!! 🤬🤬🤬 Side note: We found an AMAZING little place called The FIX Restaurant Bar & Lounge and they welcomed us and Paisley Mae with open arms!! Their food is INCREDIBLE, the live music is SO good and we met the nicest local couple who told us we weren’t missing anything at the Library, that the food and atmosphere at The Fix was WAY better! Date night saved!!
Absolutely awful. I don’t know what was happening with them tonight, but for the most part atrocious service and extremely lackluster food.
Fifty minutes after we order entrees, our server finally comes back for the first time since taking our order, we ask where the food is, and she comes back a few minutes later to let us know that they’re out of one of the entrees.
The manager came out and was admittedly very apologetic and comped the meal. The not great part was she kept bringing other dishes out and they got increasingly awful. Grouper was extremely basic and the ragu was a mess, the pasta and duck dish was somehow almost completely flavorless, the risotto was bland and watery, and the chicken was unbelievably dry and overcooked. The “cheesecake” wasn’t a cheesecake, it was an actual cake.
Finally, there were multiple spelling errors on the menu. I mean, charging $30-60 bucks for an entree and you can’t even spellcheck your menu? “Filed lettuce” and “herbs de provance,” embarrassing.
The only thing going for it is convenience if you’re staying in Sapphire, otherwise, don’t bother. Actually, I wouldn’t bother in general. Go to Mica’s and get a burger or pizza. Or better yet, BBQ from the Farmer’s Market.
One of our favorites on the plateau. Delicious food, beautiful space and friendly staff. Plus, so kind and accommodating with our toddler.
We know that we can always count on The Library for a great meal and experience! We have been many times with all different kinds of groups — as a couple, with kids, with a few friends, with a large group of friends — and leave happy every time! The food is truly delicious, drinks are great, atmosphere is fun and service is wonderful. Liz, Johannes and their team have it figured out!
We decided to try a new spot and had heard great things about The Library, so we called and made a reservation. This charming restaurant did not disappoint! It’s absolutely adorable—both inside and out—and the staff was incredibly accommodating. Our server, Amanda, was attentive and well-versed in the menu. The highlight of the night? The mushroom soup. It was absolutely divine—a must-try if you go!
The Library in Cashiers is a must-visit. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is outstanding. Chef Johann makes a mean Wiener Schnitzel — seriously one of the best I’ve ever had Stateside.
Also want to give a huge shoutout to Cindy, our server. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic evening — attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations.
Hostess immediately welcomed us like family! Sincerely took time with genuine smiles despite very busy time. Then Sidney seamlessly took over with an attentive and knowledgeable service style that was just so right! By the way, the food was incredible and Alejandro? cocktails crafted just right. We left feeling this was just a perfect experience you rarely find this well executed from start to finish. Truly a gem and wide ranging interesting menu makes it hard but fun to choose and great price point value whether you want a light or multi course experience.
Our 1st visit was so good, we had another dinner there 2 days later. The 2 best dinners of our visit to Sapphire NC!
My mother came to visit and we had reservations (for months in advance) at another fancy restaurant in town… We were treated so beyond terribly by the manager when we arrived at the Canyon Kitchen that we left... It was supposed to be a special night out with my Mom and that experience got us off on the wrong foot. My heart was in the dumps....We decided to see if we could get in at the Library. When we approached the front door we were greeted with such amazing warmth and with a huge smile. A far cry from what we had just experienced. We spent the next hour enjoying one of the best meals and service you could ever imagine. I'm not one to sit down and write reviews...but our experience at the Library turned a terrible experience upside down. Thank you Liz and the Library crew! You are all fantastic! We will be lifelong patrons and supporters of this fine establishment. When we left my mom asked Liz to take pictures... she thought we wanted pictures of us.... nope... we wanted pictures with her! Thank you! We will be back

Delicious red snapper, weiner schnitzel and fried oysters . Must try the pistachio cheesecake. Great cocktails, too !
Cool atmosphere in an old school farmhouse and great food. Chef is definitely on top of it at all times.
My husband and I dropped in and had dinner at the bar last night! Everything from the custom cocktails to the sushi, elk steak and most of all service was exceptional! It’s our new favorite! Thank you to Michael at the bar and the rest of the staff for making dinner out what it should be!
Had their food at a wedding they catered. Excellent quality and absolutely delicious. Thank you!
