Mayflower Seafood Restaurant in Smithfield is known for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and good food. The atmosphere is nice, with a fireplace that adds to the cozy feel. Customers often enjoy the seafood platter, and the crab dip is highly recommended as an excellent starter. Many guests appreciate the quiet environment, making it a great place for a family meal. The restaurant offers both carry-out and dine-in options, and has received the good business award from the local marine corps league, which is seen as a positive sign. Kids usually enjoy their meals here, and the service is generally good. Parking is available nearby, making it convenient for visitors. While some reviews mention issues like small portions for the Mayflower Special take-out, overall, the food quality remains good, with fried items like popcorn shrimp and hush puppies being cooked to perfection. The house salad is large and flavorful, and the tartar and cocktail sauces are appreciated for their good taste. However, some customers have noted minor issues such as scallops not having breading, shrimp not being deveined, or the absence of utensils in take-out bags. The restaurant could improve accessibility, as there is a high curb to step up and the door needs to be pulled open, which may be challenging for wheelchair users or those on crutches. Despite these small concerns, many guests plan to return for the friendly atmosphere and tasty food.
