Being from California, I have been searching the entire East Coast for a Mexican food restaurant that actually knows how to cook REAL Mexican food, it took me five years but I finally found La Familia here in Statesville and they DO NOT DISAPPOINT! Hands down, the best Mexican food I’ve had since moving from California (THE BEST BY FAR!) And to top it off, their prices are VERY reasonable! My son and I both got entire meals, drinks, and sides of rice and beans for $21!! They gained a new loyal customer today!! I’ll be back two or three times a week, really, it’s that good!!

Best tacos in Statesville and friendly service each and every time-- even when it's packed out. (Or ask for fries topped with grilled onions, carne asada, and cheese for a fry nacho of sorts!! Absolutely delicious)

This is the authentic mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant you are looking for.
My fiancée and I love this place. Mi Familia has to be one of the only restaurants in all of Statesville that we can go to and expect a consistent experience. I have yet to be disappointed when we come here — except when they’re closed or away on vacation!
As a California kid who grew up loving street tacos, Mi Familia really brings that true home-cooked flavor to the table. I often order carne asada tacos with onion and cilantro (pretty standard, I know), and my fiancée always gets arroz con pollo — and despite being a picky eater, I have yet to hear a complaint about her order.
Surprisingly, I don’t have any photos at the table here, but their overall presentation is good. The flavor is on point, all the time, every time. Staff is friendly and always welcoming; they always seem happy that you’re there. This isn’t fine-dining in any capacity, so don’t expect to be waited on like table-service restaurants; seat yourself and someone will be with you with the quickness, though, and if you need something don’t be shy to get up and ask at the counter — they won’t bite, I promise.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an eating experience that feels like you were invited to eat your favorite tío’s cooking.
Parking: Plenty of parking, but riddled with potholes. It doesn’t really bother me none (and I drive a slammed car), but for the less attentive, I would simply advise you be cautious when you pull in.

Very good food very authentic. The man who attended was great and gave good recommendations. I definitely liked my torta it was amazing and burrito California . The agua de limon was good too not to sweet but not lacking favour. Il be back here as long as I am in the area one of the best Mexican places I been to in a long time

Hole-in-the-wall authentic Mexican restaurant (La Familia)! Tacos & carne asada fries were fresh & flavorful with that distinct salsa taste! Food, service, & ambience were excellent! Owners were so nice!

I got the street tacos shrimp and they were excellent! The Verde sauce was fresh and really good their salsa was really good the place is not much to look at I probably wouldn't eat inside but definitely get food to take on I got eight tacos and two things of refried beans for like $25!
