Omg good food! Wanted my friend to try real fresh trout. Winner, winner, trout dinner here for the win.
Also, they had the best collards I've ever had and I can't even make them as good myself, thats impressive!
The steak sandwich was ample enough to eat it open faced, save the bread calories. And the fried okra was hand breaded to excellence!!!
Our waitress was lovely and very attentive. Great place high praise!!
And we sat creekside just lovely!!!

Our group was celebrating a birthday. The service was average but the food quality was not good. The fried okra was so greasy and the clam chowder was not good. When you spend $60-70 on a meal you expect it to taste good. This is the last time we'll visit this restaurant.

We stopped in to have a couple of drinks before going to dinner. The bartender took our orders and our drinks were made to perfectly. We enjoyed having our drinks by the firepit.

I used to be proud of this restaurant. It used to be a solid seafood spot with fair prices, but now the menu is shockingly overpriced. Somewhere along the way, they seem to have forgotten where they are—this is Sylva. Not Anaheim, not Miami, not New York. This is a small mountain town, yet their prices are starting to look like they belong in a big city.

For example: oysters used to be $19 for a dozen and $11 for a half dozen. Now? $27 for a dozen and $15 for a half. Calamari went from $12 to $14, alligator bites from $14 to $16, and honey-glazed salmon from $25 to $28. These increases are hard to justify. Are they still blaming Covid? It can’t be tariffs—the oysters are from the U.S., not imported from Japan or the Bahamas.

And here’s the kicker: for the prices they’re charging, the dining space feels cramped. Tables are barely two feet apart—sometimes closer. There’s zero privacy, and I could clearly hear every conversation happening at the table next to me. So tell me, with food this average, service this inconsistent, and seating this tight… is the price really reasonable?

Here’s the reality: Sylva isn’t filled with executives pulling six-figure salaries. It’s made up of hardworking, humble people who used to support this place week after week. We were regulars—almost every weekend. But with the way prices are now, we only come for special occasions, if at all. Honestly, sometimes it feels better to save our money for when we travel, because at least then the quality matches the price tag.

It’s disappointing to see what used to feel like a local favorite start charging like a corporate chain.

The only positive and remained the same is you can bring your dogs.

Maybe the chef was just having a bad day, but my lobster was very tough and rubbery and the collard greens had so much vinegar on them they were inedible. The hush puppies soaked up all the juice from the greens and I couldn’t eat them either. I was very disappointed.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon in July around 1:00 PM. There is plenty of parking. They were busy but no overly so. We were greeted after a few minutes and taken to a table. We wanted to sit outside to hear the creek but it was so humid and rainy we decided against it. Service was good and plates were picked up as needed. We tasted a couple of tap beers and decided on the Founder’s IPA. It was very good. We ordered the Crab Cake BLT and a bowl of the soup of the day which was Crab and Corn. The soup was just thick enough with plenty of corn. It was very tasty even though it didn’t have much crab flavor. The Crab Cake BLT was disappointing. It didn’t taste like crab meat at all. The accompanying french fries were ok but some were pretty lifeless. Our friend ordered the fried oysters which he said were good. We don’t live here but our friend visits often. He particularly enjoys anything with oysters.

Never ate... Walked in and as we were being seated I looked back into the kitchen and one of the workers who was preparing the food..... Bare handed..... Was digging in his mouth. Like really getting in there, like 2nd or 3rd knuckle, then right back to making the food. And it sounds odd, which it was, but the menu was kinda hostile. Setting rules and conditions for ordering. We paid for our drinks that we were afraid to touch and left. As high of standards they hold their customers to, you think that maybe they would hold their staff to higher standards first.

Great food and service. Only complaint is the half circle chairs were very uncomfortable. Especially if you weigh over 200 lbs. Or have wide hips or a big butt. Make sure you dont sit in them. They have other chairs. Food was amazing.

We visited on a busy Saturday night with a party of six and were seated quickly—great service from start to finish! Our server was super attentive, and the food was fresh and flavorful. We had everything from crab legs and steak to gator tail and oysters. I had the fried catfish, which was cooked perfectly. The collard greens were too heavy on the vinegar for my taste, but others might enjoy them. Overall, great experience and definitely worth a visit!
