I re-purchased the order I wanted initially, which was clearly not what we ordered as we always order the same thing every single time (Quesabirria—which is on the receipt—and consists of tacos with birria meat, and cheese, that is cooked in consome sauce with consome sauce on the side… everyone knows that’s how birria tacos are made) but I called up there to say I’m returning the order because it is not what we ordered, and first, the guy hung up on me, and I wasn’t being disrespectful in the least, so I drove up there, and the guy then tried to convince me I was wrong and tried to tell me that some regular tacos were “birria tacos”… Then he and the lady were obviously snickering and laughing at me behind the desk while I was waiting like I don’t know what one of my favorite foods is, so initially I was nice enough to just pay for both meals (i actually insisted) because I am a nice person and people work hard, I get it, but then they did the laughing thing and the guy acted like I didn’t know what I was talking about when I kept politely saying it was not Quesabirria or even birria tacos, (Quesabirria is still effing tacos) so yeah I spent over $80 on trying to get myself and my daughter the correct food tonight. They finally made it correctly on my dime, but still insisted I was wrong—that this (pictured in first pic) is quesabirria. Where is the bowl of consome? Why isnt the shell cooked in consome sauce and why is there no cheese? Let’s say they got quesabirria and birria tacos mixed up… it is still not a dang birria taco. I always say “birria tacos” anyway when i order it. So here I have included an example of their quesabirria (second pic taken April 23 2025) before I started requesting extra meat when I order it, due to the meat looking like they just lightly garnish the taco with it lol. And they were selling that ish for almost $20 with no meat. But as you can also see, it comes with the bowl of consome and cheese on it—as the word “quesa” is a part of the name of it. I brought all 4 meals home and didn’t even eat it because I was scared someone may have spit in it, or worse. I wanted to let it go but I’m still extremely ticked that I spent $80 on two meals to be snickered at and told I’m wrong when I’m absolutely fully aware of what both Quesabirria and birria tacos consists of.

This was my first time here and I was blown away! I had no idea that this Authentic Mexican gem was hiding in Tabor City. The food was spectacular, the service was awesome, the Horchata was the best I’ve ever had, and there happened to be a beautiful traditional Mexican dance performance while we were there. I cannot say enough good things about Ana’s Tex Mex. I will definitely be back!

The owner is very rude and disrespectful. Roaches are terrible, the food use to be good but not anymore. Customer service is awful!! Dirty silverware. Never wants to give your receipt unless you ask, then you will find all the extra charges for each drink or plate!! Would not recommend this place to anyone!! No telling what you will find in their food!!

I usually go to the one in Tabor City. I absolutely love the fajita burrito, mixed. The portion is large, it’s deep fried and so delicious! The cheese sauce that comes on it is so good! I love mixing the mild and hot salsa together. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed! Also, I like their mixed fajitas and fried ice cream is amazing!

There is ample parking and the place is right on main street. The inside is not much to look at. There are sports signs and the walls and the walls are Tarheel Blue. Mexican music playing not too loud that you can't talk. It doesn't have an mexican smell to it like some places... How it overpowers you and you leave smelling like the food. Booths and tables/chairs available as seating.

They serve coke products and have plastic straws. I hate paper straws. Chips and salsa with your choice of mild or hot. The chips were hot and fresh made. Salsa was delicious and not chunky and very fresh. We got the queso with chorizo and it came out on a skillet still sizzling. VERY GOOD! We ordered the chicken chorizo dish which came with rice and a salad to share. The chicken was grilled great and had the cheese chorizo sauce on top. The rice was long grain and cooked perfectly with not really any vegetables which I actually prefer. Really good overall.

They sell Jaritos sodas and a small bit of Mexican candy.

Overall a good experience and will be back.

Worst service ever! Went in Sunday for lunch. Got seated & every table around us got service. I had to walk to the counter & ask for a waitress. One of the hosts finally came & got our order. Silverware was dirty, no napkins. Got our drinks, no refills. All the tables around us got excellent service. Our food came out & no one else checked on us at all. Went to pay & we were rang up, bill was never presented to us, but was told that we were given a discount! Don’t recommend!

Unfortunately, my husband and friends stopped at Ana’s for dinner Tuesday, Oct 8. The next morning, all three of them were vomiting and diarrhea. Four days later, still very sick. Update: both my husband and his friend were diagnosed with Noro virus. Keep away from this place.
