Backwater Jacks Tiki Bar Reviews
I have been going to Backwater Jacks for over five years and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. We went with our newborn, and this was not our first time taking the baby to a restaurant. They weren't overly busy due to rainy weather. When I told the owner a table for two plus room for a car seat, she peeked into the car seat and said, "really? Are you really doing this?" I was confused so I kind of laughed and nodded. A local gem. I've been a happy customer of Backwater Jack's for years, sometimes visiting 2-3 times a week. The fun atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely, good hearted owner make for a great visit everytime. The menu is simple, but delicious and affordable, especially the kids meals.
It is my favorite place to tell out of town visitors to go, especially during evenings when they almost always have live music.
Love this place!! Right near the water so the views while you’re eating are amazing!!

Backwater Jacks Tiki Bar is a popular weekend spot, especially for dinner and drinks after a day on the boat. The friendly owners and staff provide good service, although some guests feel that service could be better at times. The menu offers a variety of options, including tacos, shrimp baskets with fries, and the highly praised Cubano sandwich. The shrimp is fried hard and tastes fresh, and the fries are irresistible. The atmosphere is nice, with indoor and outdoor seating, providing a perfect view of the Pamlico River and a unique look at the historical marina area known as "the flood zone." The two-story island/beach/tiki theme back porch architecture makes diners feel like they are truly in the boonies of Beaufort County. Guests can enjoy sunsets while having their meals and drinks at either of the two outdoor bars. While it can be busy, the food is freshly cooked and piping hot. This spot is a great choice for a casual meal, with a friendly atmosphere and delicious food, making it a genuine locals' place where visitors feel welcomed.
