Always great!
My wife and myself went there when they first opened, cause we were told how good it was. However, that wasn't the case for us . It was busy, took us over an hour to get seated, took another 30 minutes before our order was taken.
When we finally got our food, both of us was extremely disappointed, the gravy was not good at all, the hash browns where practically raw, eggs was cooked too long, the coffee was just nasty. Least to say, we both was extremely disappointed and swore we wood never return.
Well the other day, I decided to try them again. That was in itself a mistake, even though there was just a few individuals there, in my opinion, it took longer then it should have to get my order taken, and then for the food get prepared.. again the hash browns where practically raw, eggs wasn't cooked the way I wanted. The sausage didn't taste anything like sausage. So I gave it a 1. But wished I could have given it a negative number. Then I realized they have a moose mount on the wall. Don't they realize we don't have moose in this area. In my opinion, they need to replace that mount with a big white tail mount.
So in ending this, I will not be going back there.
Food was delicious! Seating is difficult with a large family, we had 5. I highly recommend the cinnamon roll topping to the pancakes or waffles if thats a flavor you like. My eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly to order, no seasoning on them eggs/grits (personal pet peeve. They do provide salt and pepper on table) Biscuit was good but not the best, it tastes similar to Grands if thats something you like. :) I tried the pecan pancake and it wasnt my favorite, the pecans were a bit crunchy in some places and that threw it off imo. Overall loved the food.
Dining experience was affordable and the service was excellent.
It is one of the best breakfast spots around. Very fast and friendly service. Always served hot and fresh, always served with a smile and always a good mix of locals and tourists enjoying this High Country Gem!!

Food was good, service was ridiculously slow. Good value if you have the time to chill.

These people had the courage not to wear masks during that covid garbage and defy the whiners who complained about them not wearing masks. Masks don't stop germs people, use your heads for something other than a hat rack and bad hairdos.

The service and food is great diner fare. They do have two issues. The eggs Benedict needs much work, namely cook the eggs to medium and toast the muffin. Others have the same complaint. I had them do a separate muffin....which they got correct. Cooking takes discipline and perfection. Cooking in a diner is hard work.
Parking: Seldom have I had a problem finding parking
Wheelchair accessibility: Cane is fine. Wheel chair could be a challenge. They do great take out.

We had just moved here and after working a night shift as a nurse I drove straight through to get us to our new home in West Jefferson. My sister had recommended this place because her and her husband eat here all the time and they drive from granite falls. I placed my order after we pulled into our new place and unloaded our essentials. I went to move our truck and I clipped a car in our parking lot. I was so embarrassed this is how I was going to meet my neighbors. What a great first impression on my part. I immediately called my insurance company and went to find my new neighbor to tell her what happened and give her the claim number and all my information. It had probably been an hour since I placed my order. I was crying and just tired and upset but still needed my food. I went to go pick it up and explained how sorry I was for being so late and explained what happened. They went on the spot and remade my order. I went to hand them my card to pay and they told me not to worry about it and welcome home. They told me to go eat and get some rest. I was shocked at the kindness. The food was absolutely delicious and they will always get my business by the kindness alone that they showed (not to mention the excellent food!) Thank you Hillbilly Grill for having a heart and showing kindness when it was certainly needed the most. ❤️
