After having such a great experience at the Blowing Rock location, we decided to stop by the new Town Tavern for lunch—and we're so glad we did!
We were welcomed by Charlene, whose passion for great food and excellent customer service was immediately evident. The restaurant was nearly full when we walked in, with only one table available. Thankfully, we grabbed it just in time!
For lunch, we ordered the grilled chicken sandwich topped with coleslaw and paired it with sweet potato fries. I'm very picky when it comes to chicken sandwiches, but this one exceeded my expectations. The chicken was flavorful, juicy, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the teriyaki chicken salad, which was fresh, satisfying, and another great choice.
Tip: I recommend you ask for extra teriyaki dressing!
To top it off, the sweet tea was exactly what Southern sweet tea should be—refreshing and perfectly balanced.
If you're looking for a casual restaurant with dependable service, friendly staff, and consistently good food, I highly recommend Town Tavern.
Happy Exploring,

Monday, June 15th around one o’clock. We were a group of five for lunch.
Service was absolutely terrible! Took at least 10 minutes to get our drinks (20 minutes for my husband’s beer) and that was AFTER waiting forever before anyone even came to our table.
Food was even worse. The fish and chips were grossly overcooked. And for such a thin piece of fish there was practically nothing to eat but nearly burnt breading. My burger was as dry as you could possibly get. I’m not even sure it was meat. It was a very thin, dry and tasteless piece of “meat” (more like cardboard ). I wanted mayonnaise so it wouldn’t be so dry but never could find our waitress until it was time to pay. My fries tasted like they were cooked the day before and put under a heat lamp. My husband ordered another beer and a different one from his first one. When it was finally served, she just plopped an unopened can in front of him. No fresh glass. Just terrible service all around. I asked for a copy of my receipt but got tired of waiting for it and left. The only thing good I can say about this place is they made excellent sweet tea and the onion rings were decent.
Five VERY unsatisfied customers who will never return. Wasted over $150. Unfortunately I’m the one who recommended this place because the menu looked good and diverse and the ratings look pretty good.

We dined there yesterday. We were greeted nicely and hostess got us to a table. First thing I noticed was the dirty dishes on tables around us along with a filthy floor under some of the tables. This is a nice place but staff not paying attention to cleanliness.

We were excited to try the place out , as we'd not eaten here before. Hoping for some good food and a new experience.
What we found was that it's basically just a bar that serves bar food.
After a very, very long wait, our waitress showed up with water. Another long wait, and we ordered. (She was not very busy, and was pretty much just standing at the side of the restaurant by the wall doing nothing, which was odd.)
The food arrived. Lukewarm fries, a soggy Ruebem sandwich. My wife was surprised by how big her salad was, but she was disapponted to find that it was mostly chppped lettuce.
Amother long wait for drink refills....ugh!
If you want a beer and some tv screens to stare at, you'll be fine. Otherwise l'm sorry to say that it is merely mediocre.

Wanted hot dogs. Heart set on hotdogs. 5p Sunday afternoon… “we’re out of hot dogs”. Ok, I’ll take a hamburger. “What sides?” I’m asked. Potato salad. “We’re out of potato salad”. Ok, coleslaw. “We’re out of coleslaw”. Ordered burger medium rare, got medium well. Something wrong with this picture. So they had a busy weekend, aren’t hot dogs either frozen or have a decent refrigerator shelf life? Music way too loud. Hard to hold a conversation with friends. Not in a big rush to go back.

We were in town and ordered online. The online website said it would take 45-50 minutes after we paid. I called the restaurant and let them know we weren’t local and couldn’t wait that long and asked to cancel. The manager called me and they had the order ready in 15 minutes. That’s excellent service! The food was perfect. Can’t wait to eat here again. Thank you!

More than just pub food. The chicken wraps and sandwiches were the best in town. The nachos are large and flavor packed.

Place is legit!! Had Cierra and Charlene helping me. Good people, I love this place. If I designed a bar/ tavern this would be the model. Food is quality and fair prices.
