Mellow Mushroom Wilmington - Downtown

Experience was great! We are Mellow Mushroom fans and this was our first visit to this one. Food was excellent and service was even better! Andy was a great server! Very friendly and spot on with timing!

I used to love this place but as of recently it got ridiculous. Placed an order for a vegan option and SPECIFIED not to add any dairy products. Instead, they added butter and parmesan all over. The host said it's not a big deal and they will remake it. I have placed an order in advance not to be late for a family gathering, but apparently my inconvenience isn't a big deal.
Also, pointed to their staff and manager that the condition of their baby changing table is not safe for changing babies. Mentioned twice. Wad told it just happened and they will most certainly address it (not true, as it has been the Same issue over the last year). It has been a few months - same issue. Will not be supporting this business again

The place was cute and crowded, we sat inside, asked for a artichoke appetizer 20 mins passed, I asked again, 30 more mins, appetizer comes out, cold, she lets us know “be careful the plate is hot…ma’am, where?. My toddler was at this point crying, starving, everyone irritated… Dad had to take baby somewhere else to eat. Got the meat pizza, wasn’t worth the wait nor the lack of service. Truly disappointed.

Great Location in downtown Wilma. Great views of the river if you want to sit outside. You are still getting the high quality pizza you always get at the Mellow. Went to one in Asheville, NC recently and same deal. Righteous Vibes Flowing !!!!

Just seems they cannot get things right. No matter how many chances we give them. We live nearby and each of the last three visits over 8 months have been problematic. Earlier today, we sat outside on a beautiful Jan. day. A Saturday @ 4pm, not even during a heightened busy time. Two people; two entrees. One entree (wings) was brought to table some 12 minutes before the other (an individual pizza). ‘Cuz I’d rather you have warm wings than cold’, our server explained. Sure. Logical. But, how about these two people get their food AT THE SAME TIME? Hmmm. Just sayin’.
And even then, still no setups so my husband ends up licking off his fingers cuz he didn’t even have a napkin. Food’s always good but their problem is timing? organization? basic kitchen management? We spoke with both the server and manager, both apologetic, and they comped two of our drinks. Appreciated, but sooo not the point.
Even after this, they couldn’t even handle the cash transaction accurately and shorted my change $10 until I pointed it out. Again, they apologized and made it right. If I’d wanted to work for my meal, I’d just stay home to eat.
Examples like this continue to happen—for both dine-in and takeout. It’s unacceptable , and seems they’re not learning from their own errors and problems or doing better. We’re done at the location. Too bad for all.

Mellow Mushroom in Wilmington is a great spot for delicious pizza in a fun, laid-back atmosphere. The menu has plenty of creative pizza options, and the crust is perfectly baked with lots of flavor. Ingredients taste fresh, and there are good choices for different diets, including vegetarian and gluten-free. The vibe is colorful and relaxed, making it a nice place to hang out with friends or family. Service is friendly, though it can get a bit busy at times, which is the only small reason it’s not a full five stars. Overall, a solid 4.5-star experience and definitely worth a visit!

Sadly, I have to give a bad review. Every single time I go to this location they screw up my order. And, it’s always after, “I’ve paid”. Maybe, have you staff actually read the ordering screen and you all could get it right.

Food came cold not one but two of our items were wrong. Waitress came back once to check on us. We would have to get her attention for the mess up of our food. I know it was a Saturday but it was not good

Very disappointed with the visit to Yellow Mushroom Pizza

My family and I decided to spend the evening of November 4th at this restaurant. We arrived at 9:30 PM and were told they were closing at 10. The waitress was clearly uninterested in serving us, which immediately created an uncomfortable atmosphere. We decided to order two cocktails and a pizza to go, so as not to disturb the staff.

They brought us two cocktails. One of them was so sweet that it was undrinkable. I apologized, didn’t drink it, and returned it, asking for a replacement. They brought another cocktail, but it had no alcohol in it—just water with grenadine. We went to the bar to discuss the situation, and the bartender was extremely rude. When I asked her not to speak to me so harshly, she became even more unpleasant. Instead of apologizing or fixing the issue, she poured half a bottle of Tito’s vodka into my glass without asking. I told her I wasn’t going to drink it and asked to pay only for the cocktail without alcohol, but she refused to charge me for the drink.

When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the bartender said, “My boss will be very unhappy that I’ve poured so much Tito’s for you.” I never asked for that.

No apologies, no proper service. All we received was rude behavior and disrespect. This was the worst experience I’ve had in years of dining out. We left without drinking the cocktails. This incident ruined our entire evening. I will never return to this place, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. With such customer treatment, no one would want to come back.

I walked into Mellow Mushroom in Wilmington with my family, exhausted and hungry after a long trip, just hoping to relax with my wife and friends over drinks. What I got instead was an absolute nightmare. We ordered drinks, and while one came out fine, the second was unbearably sweet—like syrup. We politely asked for a replacement, fully apologizing and explaining the issue. We didn’t drink it, just handed it back, expecting a simple fix. The waiter took it with a visible look of annoyance, and when he finally returned, he brought back a drink with no alcohol in it at all. We tried to explain the situation again, and were met with nothing but heavy sighs. The bartender then proceeded to pour half a bottle of Tito’s into my glass, clearly annoyed, with no explanation. It felt like a punishment, not service.

At this point, we were just completely done. We left, still hungry, with our evening completely ruined. It wasn’t just bad service—it was disrespectful, careless, and downright humiliating. If you want your night to be completely wrecked, then by all means, come to Mellow Mushroom in Wilmington. This place will leave you questioning what customer service even means.
