I really wanted to love Penders Cafe. I've passed it for years being in downtown Wilmington. We walked in at 10:30am. Was told they were still setting up (hours show open at 10am). We felt unwelcome. But, they showed us to a booth. The nostalgia factor is why they are getting stars. It's really a cool place that has been preserved with time.Limited menu was completely overpriced. And, nothing remarkable. I saw from a review there was breakfast. Nothing on the menu to indicate that. You have to ask. Bizarre. We won't be back, sadly.

Penders Cafe is an amazing hidden gem in downtown wilmington! They are open from 10-2 Tuesday-Friday. Hours are not for long because of how business has been so come check them out before it's too late! My food was absolutely incredible the burger is hand made and absolutely to die for! The service was fantastic! The sweet lady that served us made sure we liked everything we got. I'll definitely come back!

Went today (4/26) around noon. It was closed despite the listed hours as being open Wednesday to Sunday at 11.

Cute atmosphere! Loved the old coca-cola memorabilia! Excellent burgers and cheesesteak sandwiches. Definitely worth it.

I feel like everyone should know,I was once a waitress here and I would like to explain why she can not keep workers. Ms. Maxine literally takes all of our tips regardless of the amount. She claims she has to tax them however she does way more then that. She only pays 5$ per hour and then states that the tips is what will help. However if she literally is taking our tips we in reality are only making 5$ an hour. While working with her I can say the burgers and lemonade are fresh and delicious. As far as the racist comment witnessed from another person she is indeed racist as most people born in her era are. I don’t believe she realized I’m biracial and she constantly made racist remarks while I was working with her.

Pretty sure this place is permanently closed. Haven't seen it open in the last 9 months

Service was extremely slow. Unbelievable! Honestly I'm a very patient person... But the lack of concern for a customer waiting at the cash register to be seated was unbelievably slack.
Owner is so sweet. Very down home atmosphere. It's a small eatery. Food was good, prices were reasonable. They were short staffed so there was a small wait but only a few minutes. The food was worth the wait. Drop in for a quick bite.

Completely disappointed. 2 cold hot dogs and 2 gross and cold grilled cheeses for 50 bucks? How do you even serve that. At least make it a good meal. Unbelievable. Sad to say the least.

Excellent burgers fries. And I’m not a fry person. Definitely will visit next time in Wilmington.

Cute local place! It reminds me of what and how a grandma would make and serve lunch. No frills, reasonable prices and a filling lunch. The burgers come with fries, the hot dogs don't.
