Pulling up to a barbecue restaurant that was in a strip mall we were a little skeptical but let me be the first to say this was absolutely wonderful smoked meat. The barbecue was tender and moist as was the brisket. The tenders were okay but not as good as the rest. The homemade chips were delicious as were all the sides! This is one of the restaurants where you can tell the owner cares about his food and it truly shows. The place was clean, the staff friendly, and the service quick. Highly recommend!

If you are hesitating, STOP! Hands down the best brisket I’ve ever had!!! The green beans, potato salad, okra and banana pudding hit the spot too! They have an AWESOME sauce bar (although I really would appreciate some texas pete along those lines as well) and the staff is so lovely!! Check em out!

Save your money and go to mission BBQ.This place has a long way to go in terms of quality and flavor.What we ordered:Brisket.(was extremely dry and burnt. Basic Potato Bun that wasn't warm)Spicy Hot Dog. (Below standard hot dog that lacked flavor, and once again, on a cheap bun)Mac 'n Cheese. (bland, there was nothing "homemade" about this)French Fries. (served cold and not crispy. Pretty bland as well)Banana Pudding.(ehhh had to search for the pudding. Soft texture, was ok)Potato Salad. ( ABSOLUTELY bland)Red slaw. (Genuinely not a fan, needs some work in terms of flavor profile)Tangy BBQ was the best sauce to try but mediocre when it comes to the BBQ sauce game.Sweet Tea. (Wasn't too sweet, passable)You get what for pay for and this is nothing to write home about.

I got a brisket sandwich and I noticed a smell of something burnt.it looked liked they scraped the bottom of the pan it was black and not edible. Very disappointing. I will not be eating there again.

Fantastic new bbq restaurant in Wilmington!!! They were running a great lunch special that included a pork sandwich, small slaw for sandwich, a drink and 1 side, all for only $5. Very casual but cozy and clean atmosphere with a great selection of sauces from all the major bbq regions in the US. I’ve tried both the beef brisket and the chopped pork and both were deliciously smoked. I enjoyed the white slaw, baked beans and french fry sides. Friendly staff as well. It was so tasty that I’ve been back multiple times now since discovering it.
As a BBQ snob, this is certainly not NC's best cue by any means, but as the only option south of Oleander, it gets the job done and is a step up from the building's previous tenant, Dickey's. The pork was extremely greasy (you can see me holding the sandwich with a napkin) and had a light smoky flavor (I expected more from a place with smoke in its name). There were a lot of sauce options, but none of them were great (though Lexington was the best of the bunch). The mac & cheese did not taste good, and I would not eat it again. The $5 sandwich, side, and drink special is a fantastic deal, but I doubt I'll be back in to pay full price for this.

First time trying The Smokehouse at Monkey Junction and it was great! What was even better was the deal they were running for February - you got a pulled pork sandwich, side, slaw and a drink for only $5! That's insane this day and age. I would definitely go back on the regular, make sure you get the cinnamon butter for the hushpuppies, it's like dessert!
We never had a chance to taste the advertised pulled pork special because there was none left when we arrived (around 6pm).It would have been thoughtful and considerate if the owner/manager would have allowed a substitution since we were coming a long distance just to check out this place.The owner/manager mentioned he was losing money on this deal to me. Well, you chose to do this, so let's not have a pity party!

I love brisket. A lot of people. Think they can cook it but really can't. The Smokehouse nails it ! Moist perfect smoke flavor. No sauce needed ! Definitely worth coming here and trying their food. You will not be disappointed. Great job Smokehouse !!!

The MJ smokehouse is delicious. I had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and Cheese. While the Mac and cheese was so so, the BBQ was fabulous. It was tender and had great smoky flavor. The coleslaw pairs well with the BBQ and the various sauces. My favorite was the KC sweet but the Texas and eastern were close seconds due to their spicyness. Will be back.

I placed a carry out for my grandpa's birthday at 5pm to be picked up a 7:45, as I was pulling into the parking lot, the restaurant calls me to tell me that they don't have my order they lost it or it was forgotten about so they ran out of the main items I ordered for his birthday dinner and 4 other family members. Unfortunately there was no apologies no attempt to make it better... Not to mention I have to wait at three days to have the money refunded to my account. They really crapped the bed on this one. Do better
