The food wasn’t horrible, but the prices do not warrant the service. Our order was called out but not brought to our table and a water cup was $0.50. Never in my life have I been charged for a water cup.

This is my second review. The first one was from my first time, roughly 4 months ago. I can not express how great this place is wo coming across as fake or crazy. The (guessing) owners are super friendly and remembered my wife’s name and face after the 3rd time picking up. The food is on par with Hiro and blows Okami out the water, plus they have mustard sauce which okami quit making. Please give this small family owned business a try, you won’t be disappointed.
Just got 3 salmon avocado rolls and bowl of rice for $37.00! I get the same thing plus a salad and miso soup at okami for $19.00! Food was fine and people working were nice but 2 times the price as your competitors!? Please
We pulled in with a group of 20 high school soccer players. Not an ideal situation for a restaurant. However, the staff went out of their way to be friendly and provide us with great service. On top of that, the food was outstanding.

Yaki Express has officially earned its spot in my regular hibachi rotation! As a lover of hibachi-style food, I've tried several spots around Wilmington—but this one keeps me coming back. I always get the same thing (creature of habit): steak hibachi with veggies and fried rice. The steak is cooked to order—medium rare for me—and always tender and flavorful. The veggies are fresh and perfectly sautéed, with onions, zucchini, and mushrooms. And that fried rice? Next level. I don’t know what magic they put in it, but it’s easily my favorite in town.
There’s a self-serve sauce station (hello unlimited white sauce!) right next to the drink machine, which is a major win in my book. The prices are more than fair, especially for the quality.
Sometimes I stop in solo during lunch, but other times I bring my wife and two younger boys while our oldest is at youth group. One loves the noodles, and the other is obsessed with their California sushi roll—which is absolutely massive and delicious!
What really puts Yaki Express over the top, though, is the service. The family that runs it is incredibly kind and welcoming. They always greet me with a big smile, like they're genuinely happy to see me again—and that kind of appreciation means a lot.
If you're looking for great hibachi, awesome service, and food that hits every time, give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait for my next visit!

I have been coming to Yaki ever since the day they opened. Me and my girlfriend are huge Japanese food fans and have tried every place in wilmington and were severely disappointed until we found Yaki. Ever since the first day TK has been the most welcoming person ever making us feel like family. Everything is made in house and their white sauce is absolutely perfect. My go to order is either hibachi steak and shrimp or California rolls. Their rolls are a great size and very large compared to others in town. And their vegetables have a death grip on me, I literally dream of their grilled onions. I will support this restaurant and this family for the rest of my life and would recommend anybody looking for some amazing Japanese food to eat at Yaki. Prices are great and I would rather eat here than any of the big name hibachi places in town like Okami or Hiro.

Stopped in for take-out on the way out of town. (Was in Wilmington for business). Ordered and paid on their website that was linked, after finding them on Google maps. Ordered the shrimp tempura roll, Philly, spicy tuna and spicy salmon. The staff was very friendly and asked what additional sauces I might want and how many chopsticks. This place is casual, fast, friendly, and tasty! We enjoyed it and glad we found it! This restaurant shares a building with a coffee shop, and there was plenty of parking during standard lunchtime range…
