So many flavors of tea and vegan treats including a scone, pop tart, cookies and savory pastries as well. Service was fast and the ambiance is cozy.
Amazing in every way
Very good. I love the sesame noodles but they go so fast!
As I prep to move to LA I have to give my favorite spot a shoutout. I came here when I was first touring UNCSA 3 years ago and it’s easy to say I’ve been coming back semi-regularly ever since. All of the workers are so kind and Chad is a great business owner who has a real passion you don’t see everywhere. The pastries are simply to die for, my favorite being the mochi donuts. As I look back at my time in Winston-Salem I’ll always remember Chad’s Chai as my favorite study spot. The teas are also incredible, my favorite being the orange chocolate matcha which was a part of this year’s 2024/2025 winter menu. Cheers to Chad’s Chai I hope I can find a spot in LA that can live up to the high standards that this small business set.
My absolute favorite tea house! Friendly staff and I always buy a bag of "Chai ya Yai!"
Tried the vanilla chai today and it did not disappoint! Some of the most authentic chai I’ve tasted at a coffee shop that did not have an artificial flavor. Friendly service too. Will be back!
I meet here often for client meetings or just to drop by for a warm bev or pick me up. This is the cutest relaxing and welcoming place. I love how they change the menu seasonally so that you can try different drink options.
Great atmosphere and the Teas are wonderful
I worked from 8:30 this morning until 2:30 this afternoon, and had to be back to work at 3:30 pm. Why would I possibly imagine that anyone would have time to FILL UP A GROWLER on my one hour off from work??? How silly of me!!!
The place was busy and they had a lot of drinks to make. I get it; I worked restaurants forever. I finally got waited on. The person behind the counter takes my growler and then just sets it down, and proceeds to keep taking orders in the line. Ok fine .. get the orders back. I try to be patient.
I finally decide that if they haven’t filled it up by 3: 15 I am just gonna have to leave, and leave my empty jug there. Because I have to be back by 3:30.
Finally someone picks up my growler and fills it.
Then they go to put sweetener in but the bottle is low and there’s not very much. They empty the bottle into a measuring beaker, don’t look at me, tum away, go put the bottle in the sink, and then head off toward the back.
I always just get my tea just lightly sweetened anyway. If it’s less than usual that’s OK and I needed to go. As the person heads to the back, I call out, “Hey! Hey,! hey”.. cannot get their attention… they ignore me and continue to head to the back, presumably to get more syrup but I did NOT have time to wait. All they had to do was just turn around and let me just ask them to hand it to me and I’d have been out the door and not writing this review.
But no: I am loud, there is no way they didn’t hear me and they continued to walk away. The other person behind the counter dumped the little bit of sweetener into my growler and handed it to me.
I have to work until 2:00 am. This is how I spent my ONE HOUR off between shifts.
I’m regular in there. I always tip well. IDK what the issue was. Ignoring me when I’m calling you is just over the top. It’s not difficult to fill up a growler, is it? I mean…. Maybe that person was afraid of using the tap. IDK. Really crap experience today, and inexcusable.
As of last summer, they were able to make a delightful Matcha with low calorie ingredients which I value a lot. The service was great and it provided a quiet place to sit and finish a book before my friend's concert. I will be coming back next time I'm in Winston-Salem.

i can’t brag enough about how amazing this place is! from the incredible quality of the chai, to the stellar atmosphere with high ceilings and beautiful minimalist but cozy design- this is the place to be!
I’m not a coffee person, so sometimes I’m hard pressed to find a spot that does more than just matcha as the alternative to a coffee drink, but I’ve found my spot! Try the “chai yai-yai”, if you’re so inclined, for a spicier (but not too spicy!) take on a traditional chai-my personal fav!
Also important to note- I have never met a barista here i didn’t like, they are all warm and personable! So grateful for for Chad’s Chai!
10/10 ⭐️
Super cute tea shop with nice atmosphere and even a kids theme play area.
When traveling, it is nice to find tea rooms that have not only a wide selection of teas but also have employees who are efficient, friendly, and helpful. Chad's Chai is just such a place exuding great energy for all age ranges, interests, and tastes. The staff seem to take pride in their work and it shows in how they handle the large crowds that can descend upon them. We visited Chad's three times this past weekend and each provided opportunities to observe their quality and customer care in action. I highly recommend a visit and plan on staying a bit to better enjoy the experience.
I adore Chad's Chai! Would 100% recommend to anyone thinking of checking this place out. Cozy, casual atmosphere with natural light coming in from the windows across the front of the shop. Unique tea options.
PROS: Creative tea drinks, all handmade with love! Typical tea you'd expect from most tea shops, in addition to extremely creative tea options you won't find anywhere else. Dairy free options that TASTE GOOD. Caffeine free chai options as well. Can purchase loose leaf tea to go and other tea accessories. Delicious looking fresh in-house baked pastry options, usually one gluten free option as well! Extremely affordable imo.
Terrific seating options, something for everyone, very comfy & inviting. Love their Japanese tatami style seating option too! Can come alone, with a friend, or even a small group.
CONS: None! I wouldn't even call this a con, just info about the location: Because it's downtown, sometimes parking close by is not an option. But if you go during slower hours, you can almost always find street parking right in front of the shop. Just be aware when it's busier, you may have to park one street over (super easy to walk a few blocks to Liberty from Trade St) or even from the Cherry St parking deck.
*I can't help but wish that they had more gluten-free snack options. There's usually only one option, it's always a mochi. But it's better than nothing! And every time I have tried the gf option, it's very yummy 😋
I actually just love this place. The drinks are great, the atmosphere is awesome, the baristas are helpful. The only downside is people crowding tables with laptops for long periods of time, but I think that’s pretty standard nowadays for tea houses and coffee shops.
