Nothing gourmet or particularly inspired here, but Muddy Creek Cafe seems to be the only eatery inside Old Salem. It's a good place to stop and refresh when touring the museums. They have tasty sandwiches, salads, assorted nibbles, soft drinks, and desserts. You order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table when it's ready. I enjoyed the Lusty Muffaletta sandwich, and my 6-year-old granddaughter loved dancing with the live folk band. There are a few seating areas inside, as well as outside tables.

It's possibly the best ruben I have ever eaten. Good ammount of corned beef and sauerkraut. Light on the sauce. Cheese was well melted. And to finish it up, the panini grilled bread was not greasy.Order at the counter and they deliver to your table. Pepsi bottled drinks in a cooler.

Four of us met in Old Salem with a plan to lunch at Muddy Creek Cafe. Old Salem was very busy and so was MCC, I really wondered if we should bail. We got in line and ordered in just a few minutes. Got lucky with a table for 4 inside with some live music! They give you a number to display at your table. The food came out faster than expected, maybe 10mins. We all enjoyed the food and overall experience. Great spot to recharge in Old Salem!

The reuban sandwiches are excellent if you like a lean reuban. The sides do not quite match the standards of the sandwich though. The atmosphere in an 18th century courtyard is cool, but the seats are a tad...I dunno...like you might find at your uncle's backyard family reunion. Still, a positive experience!

I had the avocado reuben. It was flavorful, full of texture and delicious! My new favorite sandwich. The service and atmosphere were excellent!

Muddy Creek Café offers sandwiches, sides, and cold drinks in the middle of Old Salem. It is centrally located and is a great place to find food to tide you over, rest a bit, and help replenish your energy as you explore the Old Salem Museums and Gardens. There is even coffee if you need a pick-me-up! They have outside seating as well, under the shade of umbrellas.

I've been going here since this restaurant was over in Bethania. I've always had great service and food when coming here. The staff are always friendly, as is the owner! The new location here in Old Salem is a really neat little spot and great place to stop when going.

Lots of Karens have visited, I see. Great place, efficient service. A perfect stopoff or ending to a wander round the village.

The reviews are accurate. Waited 45 minutes for this, and paid $15. Rip off.Edited to respond to owner's reply to my review: I go to mainly local, independent restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, etc. You should read the other reviews from people patronizing your business. Many have said the same thing I did. At one point you guys stopped taking orders for over an hour because the kitchen was so far behind. There is NO REASON OR EXCUSE as to why it took 45 minutes to make 2 Reubens other than being understaffed or poor management. It's too bad your place is the only one in Salem Village serving food. If we had known how long it was going to take we would have stopped before getting there. The family next to us ordered a salad and 2 PBJs and that took just as long as ours. BAD MANAGEMENT!!!!!!

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming! Love the option to sit indoor or outdoor for perfect days like yesterday! The staff was very kind and apologetic for the wait but the food was excellent, so in my opinion, it was well worth it wait!keep supporting small businesses and be kind to those working in customer service :)

Poorly run and managed. We waited almost an hour to even order and never even got food. I love Old Salem but highly recommend eating before coming onto the property.

Fantastic Lunch! With limited options for lunch in Old Salem our expectations were low and were we wrong. Our party of 3 enjoyed the Mediterranean Plate which was the least favorite of anyone. Or sandwiches were ALL delicious which included the chicken salad, roma and turkey reuben. Everyone raved about how wonderful their sandwich was. They had a guitar player entertaining diners in the basement room and table service that was friendly and thoughtful. It's in a basement in a 200 year old building but everyone knows that going into it. Don't be swayed by some of the complainers reviews here. Complainers are going to stick to what they do best but if you're in Old Salem and looking to sit down and enjoy a bit in a real historic building, you won't be sorry to tried Muddy Creek Cafe @ Old Salem.
