Food, crab cakes, came out cool to touch and this was at 530pm..maybe 20 people in entire restaurant. We sat at bar, 6 people total, and were basically ignored by our attendant. Asked for manager, got David. David had the we're busy excuse, sorry, I'll comp meal. They weren't busy. It was complete bs...

Lovely atmosphere. Cozy. Pleasant staff. We informed her we were there for a birthday. Waitress brought us the water and we asked for straws. 2 out of 4 us had already completed our water, probably about 10 minutes. She came to check on us and I reminded her of the straws. I watched the people who were sat down and gave their order after us, get their appetizers. When she brought the straws she looked like it occurred to her that we had ordered an appetizer. We were probably there a good 45 minutes before being served the appetizer. After being there a little over an hour we were brought the salmon that three of us ordered. The pieces looked small and we realized she hadn't asked us what size we wanted (they looked like they were 4 oz). She told us she gave us the standard size. I ask do her what the standard size was and she said it was the petite one. 6 oz. I asked her why she didn't ask us what size we wanted because we wanted the bigger ones, and she said most people just get the standard size and that's what she gave us but she'd be happy to bring us another piece of salmon. I did not want to spend an additional $8, although, had she asked us, we would have spent an additional $9 between the three of us getting the size that we did want. After that we felt like she was giving us attitude when she came to the table. She was not very pleasant at all. At the end of dinner she came and asked us since we were celebrating a birthday because she interest us in the dessert menu. We said no because we had cake at home. My daughter looked up and saw that somebody had a slice of cake with her birthday candle in it. So we asked about it. My daughter's girlfriend mentioned that when she called they said there was a birthday slice of cake that you get for birthdays. We did ask about this now, and when she brought the cake she looked completely angry at us. I gave her a full 20% tip anyway because I'm thinking maybe she splits it with the busboys and the cooks. They shouldn't have to suffer for her poor service. I would come back here because the food was awesome. The service we got from our waitress was extremely poor.

We just had a surprise birthday party for my husband in the Canoe Room. The food was delicious, the service superb and the room gorgeous. They followed my directions 100%, had the champagne chilled and the appetizers ready. Perfect place to celebrate!!!

First timers and we will be back... food was delicious... and staff was polite... Even though the location was down the road, I felt like I was on vacation in the mountains...

Let’s start with the food. It is delicious. I would go back for the food; it is that good. The burger was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was peaceful. Once again IT is called river birch lodge; hence lodge feel. However I am still debating on the service; one way the service was subpar at best. However, they could be going for the I don’t want to interrupt your meal every 30 seconds to ask you if you need anything. I watched and observed and I really seen no cause for concern for any table. Like I said this may be the feel they are
Going for. If you like attentive service this May not be where you would like to dine, but even I would not let that distract from the delicious food. Two ways to look at it they are not distracting from conversation at your table by being overly attentive and your tip doesn’t have to be as high. Tips are based on service so you get to be the ultimate decider if you like the direction of service.

A surprisingly bad experience for my daughter's 26th Birthday dinner celebration.
They sat us in the back outdoor dining area which was a stark contrast to the indoor. The lighting was bright like a warehouse. The hard walls and floor gave it an echo. A stark contrast from the inside.
My 18 year old daughter ordered a non-alcoholic drink that was on the menu. The waitress denied the order and told us that their manager had decided it looked bad for underaged patrons to look like they were drinking an alcoholic beverage.
My wife asked what kind of hot tea they offered. The waitress could not tell her all the choices and rather decided to bring her a box of tea to choose from. The box she brought was a huge 10 pound wooden box that she awkwardly set on the table in front of my wife. Then the waitress walked away leaving us to deal with the box. I got up and hoisted it to the empty table behind us.
I ordered a $14.00 cocktail listed on the menu that seemed to resemble an Old Fashioned called a Nashville Reunion. When the brought the drink it was spilling over the top of a dainty stem glass that was so small a toothpick was able to lay across the top holding an orange peel. I found it ironic that they wouldn't allow my 18 year old to have a non-alcoholic beverage and then they bring me a cocktail fit for a child's doll house!
I ordered an actual Old Fashioned confirming if it would be served in a normal size glass.
My sister had a baked potato with her prime rib. The potato was so cold butter or cheese wouldn't melt. I suggested she send it back but she didn't.
I had ordered a Shrimp Arugala salad. There were 5 small shrimp on the salad which were cold. It tasted very bitter so I gave it back and decided not to have anything to eat.
The Old Fashioned I ordered 15 minutes prior had not arrived so when I caught our waitress close by, I cancelled that order not wanting to have it on an empty stomach.
The rest of the food seemed OK, not great. Our determination to have an enjoyable dinner for my daughter's Birthday kept us on track despite the bad service.
Quite surprised how they could provide such a bad experience, I'll avoid River Birch and head to the trusty Village Tavern next time! For the prices River Birch is charging, they should be able to do better.

The saying…. You get what you pay for applies there. I’ve eaten in places from here to California, Oregon NewYork Florida. However River Birch has hands down the most tender unusual flavors I’ve ever enjoyed. The staff is beyond any other and truly make you feel so special. I would like to thank everyone that works there for making our dinner so enjoyable.
