This is the real deal. Great home cooking. The best sopes I’ve had anywhere. Such crunchy masa. Wonderful salsa bar. Nice people primarily patronized by Latinos and for good reason. It’s a bit out of my way…. But I often make the effort. Very local, unpretentious place. Excellent value.

We have eaten twice at this restaurant, as one of our group is a Mexican-American and appreciates homemade Mexican food. The tortillas, both corn and four, are homemade. We had tacos, refried beans, and rice. It was delicious and authentic Mexican. They serve fruit juices, traditional Mexican beverages, including melon juice which is made (I think) with real melons. Most of the customers and all of the staff speak Spanish, with some of the counter staff bi-lingual. The service was pretty good, though there were some communication issues when I tried to order (without my Mexican-American friend). Not a big deal. The only concern was cleanliness, as the cooking area does not look too appealing, plus I had to step on a bug on the floor near my table (it might have entered from the entrance door as our table was in the front). Still, this is a good Mexican restaurant.
A nice little spot that offers authentic Mexican food...not like, Americanized Mexican food. I mean these ladies are right there in la cocina whipping up tortillas likes it’s nobody’s business. I normally get quesadillas de carne or sopas. They have horchata and flavored waters. Can get busy on weekends, but definitely worth a trip.

I was introduced to this authentic restaurant by a friend of mine. When I say this place is authentic, this is no joke. The people, the food, the atmosphere is very similar to that of an actual Mexican restaurant. Needless to say, if you are going here expecting an American experience, you won't get it. But you will enjoy some really amazing food and get to experience some of the charming Mexican culture. The drive to the restaurant will take you through some slightly sketchy parts of town, but if you're up for it, the food is worth it. It's one of those little hole-in-the-wall places with Mexican staff and primarily Mexican customers. Having grown up going to Mexico I absolutely love going here. I get to hear Spanish from the moment I walk through the door and get to enjoy amazing food on top of that. I'm a little obsessed with tacos al pastor! You get 4 delicious tacos for around $7 + tip. Their other tacos are also wonderful, but I know what I love so I haven't branched out much. I have no doubt the other food the make is delicious as well. Anything made by someone who really knows how to prepare authentic Mexican food can't be anything by wonderful! So, if you are looking for a delicious Mexican cultural experience, I'd suggest this place. It's very affordable and filling, so you will leave with a happy tummy and a happy wallet. Plus you can practice Spanish if you want :) Enjoy!
