This is the real deal. Great home cooking. The best sopes I’ve had anywhere. Such crunchy masa. Wonderful salsa bar. Nice people primarily patronized by Latinos and for good reason. It’s a bit out of my way…. But I often make the effort. Very local, unpretentious place. Excellent value.
We have eaten twice at this restaurant, as one of our group is a Mexican-American and appreciates homemade Mexican food. The tortillas, both corn and four, are homemade. We had tacos, refried beans, and rice. It was delicious and authentic Mexican. They serve fruit juices, traditional Mexican beverages, including melon juice which is made (I think) with real melons.\n\nMost of the customers and all of the staff speak Spanish, with some of the counter staff bi-lingual. A nice little spot that offers authentic Mexican food...not like, Americanized Mexican food. I mean these ladies are right there in la cocina whipping up tortillas likes it’s nobody’s business. I normally get quesadillas de carne or sopas. They have horchata and flavored waters. Can get busy on weekends, but definitely worth a trip.
