The Walrus is not just a little hole in the wall eatery. The dishes served here are really chef-inspired. Personally, I'm a meat, potatoes, domestic beer kind of guy. I don't need pizza with exotic cheese or beer that was made from local dandelions. I don't even know what IPA stands for. (Icky-pooey-ack?). When I moved to Bismarck I started coming to the Walrus for its unique atmosphere, the fabulous menu and incredible beer selection (I love dark craft beer.) — while that remains the same, I return time after time because of the amazing servers.Jen and Laurel are of excellence. They are more than servers - they are like family.Kid-friendliness: My grandson loves that he can create his own pizza!!! How special!

Great food and great service, but I have to subtract a star for the relatively dim lighting. My older associate and another older gentleman across the aisle both had to pull out their smartphones for additional light. The soup was great, and so was the pesto. My associate really liked his steak but was mildly disappointed that they didn't have Summit despite the neon sign for it above the bar.
