The View at Mahoney

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Me and my wife walked to the lodge while camping at Mahoney to try and have a nice dinner. When we got there we stood around waiting to be seated then two employees came up and debated over who's "turn" it was to take a table. Not one employee seemed happy to be there one was even complaining he should have worked the melodramas. The kid that seated us was not welcoming or anything. We shared the $10!!! Fried pickles which consisted of about 20 pickles.. I ordered the $12!!! Peanut butter burger which was literally just a patty and a huge dollop of peanut butter on it (Nothing else) My wife got the $13!!! patty melt and it was cut in half and dry all throughout the cut so it had definitely been sitting for a while. All the food is served on plastic wrap which is not safe to eat off of. Not once did our server come back to the table to ask how the food was. I sat there for 15-20 min waiting until I finally had to walk up front to get a manager. Upon speaking to her she stated she agreed about the food and would have to charge us for our drinks and fried pickles. After serving us food that made my wife run to the bathroom multiple times they still expected me to pay them for drinks and ask that I come back? I would not recommend anyone eat here ever. It has gone completely downhill.

I enjoyed my wife's family reunion with her at this place.It was nice and we had a wonderful buffet for lunch.

I hate to write bad reviews. But have to write my perspective. Gave The View a try last night 6-16-22 for the taco buffet. Walking into the place I noticed it wasnt very clean. Wasnt horrible. But not what I expected. We were told to find a table and a waitress would be right over. We found a table and sat down. 3 or 4 minutes go by and a young lady comes over and tells us to go ahead to the buffet. And a waitress would be over to get our drink order. Finally the same young lady comes back and says "guess Im going to be your waitress". And takes our drink order. 13 minutes go by and no drinks. I finally get up and go stand by the front counter. The waitresses proceed to jusy keep walking by. No one stopped to ask what I needed. Finally I grabbed ones attention and told her we had no recieved our drinks. 5 more minutes go by and her come our drinks. I proceeded to return to the buffett for a 2nd plate to atleast try to get my $12 worth. And nothing had been restocked. The food was not that good. The chips were hard and tasted stale. The flour totillas were hard. The ground beef was just that, ground beef. No seasoning at all and cold. The grilled chicked was ice cold. The refried beans and cheese looked as tho they had been out since last week. The lettuce looked as tho somone just pulled apart a head of lettuce. The other toppings spoons were too small. You had to reach into the containers to grab them.(unsanitary)The buffett line had food all over. Im sorry, but this was the worst experience ever. When we finally paid. The waitress appologized about our drinks. And blamed it on understaffing. Let me say there was 5 tables with people. With 2 waitresses. And someone behind the bar. This is a buffett. All they had to do is serve drinks. Understaffing is an excuse. Ive been in the hospitality business as a manager. And I can say, Ive had staff that as one person could of kept up with 5 tables. I wont be back. And definetly wont recomend this place.

I posted a less than great review of this place right after Mother's Day 2022. After posting this, I decided to email the restaurant directly and tell them of my experience. Within minutes, the owner contacted me and explained what challenges they faced, with no excuses, and told me of their plan to correct those problems going forward. I was very impressed at her quick response to me, her genuine care of our experience and her efforts to make things right with me. We will definitely go back. Thank you!

Your buffet should look just as appetizing 4 hours later as it did at the very start of service. We came for the Mother's Day buffet and will not return. Had to dig spoons out of puddings. Very unhygienic. Staff did not do a good job keeping food stocked, plates available, clearing dishes, or maintaining cleanliness at the buffet. Pretty sure if the health department had come today it would have been shut them down. Food was not to temperature either.

Very very disappointed.After seeing the hype over this on Facebook my family was eager to try and drive the distance to go.My family arrived at 11 and had to wait an hour which is understandable but by the time we got to eat all the food was picked over and barley being restocked.They never refilled the bacon/ sausage, roast beef, or fried chicken while we were there.We were stuck with basically all the left overs.They did bring out egg rolls but the egg rolls were not all the way fired and still had mushy dough inside.The egg rolls had no sauce and seemed totally random for the theme of the buffet.Continuing…The prime rib was over cooked.The fruit had portions that were brown.We notified one staff member the bacon was out of stock and she said to check the second pan which it still had no bacon so not sure why she even suggested we re-checkThe same staff member came out to refill the gravy for biscuits and gravy using an ice tea pitcher which gave the whole buffet feeling of low quality food.There were no knives available and I pulled out a dirty plate caked with food underneath.The ice tea wasn’t even brewed properly as it had the strength of water.According to the servers they only had two of them and the female sever was sure to yell to the guest of how busy and short staffed they were.This was not a pleasant experience and was not worth the money as the food had the taste of frozen food and the sanitation of the Buffett was below par.I understand they were busy but management is failing tremendously and They should focus on keeping buffet stocked appropriately, cleaned, and having homemade food options.Last Sunday they posted they ran out of food and promised they would make changes this weekend and they just posted again that they are closing early due to running out of food.I would highly recommend not wasting your time or money until they can prove that made serious changes on how they are running things now.

Unfortunately we had a poor experience with catering. I had to call multiple times for a menu and then email multiple times for a quote. The quote that I finally received had the wrong price on it ($1 extra per person). I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but they backed out a few weeks after I booked them. The catering manager seemed nice enough, but the communication was poor and there was no follow-through.

We came out for the Easter Buffet last year (2021), and the food was very good and selection was great. Wondering if you will be doing a buffet again this year, and if you can give details about cost, is entrance to the park for the buffet free again, and when you will start taking reservations? Thank you.

Just ate there in December, as always food was terrific, love Gingers meatloaf. I recommend The View to100 percent!!

My family has been celebrating Xmas at Mahoney State Park since 2000. We gather together (25-35 people) to enjoy brunch and have had various catering experiences from mediocre to good. This year was the first time we all agreed the brunch was fabulous. The food was hot, appealing and plentiful! Everyone gave The View Thumbs up for a delicious brunch. Nebraska State Park finally got it right! Our visit was December 12.

This place is Awesome complete buffet with all the fixings! From breakfast to brunch, lunch and dinner the food is all very well prepared and the staff is very inviting and on top of the service! The view is breathtaking

The server was very kind and attentive , that is the only good thing I can sayRestaurant definitely needs a deep cleaning , there were dead insects and stuff all over by our table . We had the roast beef and it’s the worst meal I have head. Food had to be resent to be warmed up and it was clear it wasn’t fresh, the meat was tough and no taste.Found hairs in the Mac and cheese and roast beef. No accommodations were made when this was brought to their attention.Will not be returning again
