Cool place to hang. One of the oldest bars in Grand Island. Crowded in the evenings. Classic bar on one side, booths on the other. Still remember, Dad took me in there 55 years ago. Was owned by Ed and Netty Ruff for years. Hasn't changed much.
Next to the definition of "Dive Bar" should be a picture of Ruff's. The walls are covered in a red s*** carpet that still reeks of Marlboro light smoke and sweat. The bathrooms are literally closets with a toilet in them. Artifacts from the past line the walls. If you're not from here you would walk out the second you walked in. We used Ruffs to cater the alcohol at a 600 guest wedding reception. They provided security, bartenders and a excellent selection of alcohol. Very easy to work with. Jesse and the girls were very accommodating to all of our needs. I would highly recommend them for such an occasion
