Texted book definition of a hole in a wall. The decor was pieced together by 60 years of collecting stuff, and a guy walked in and sat and ate with a weed Wacker in his hand. Oh, the surprises. We will be back. Only takes cash. Being a jacket.
Don't let these "bad reviews" fool you, this place is the best home owned business in omaha by FAR, they make every thing fresh from scratch, they remember your order if you come in all the time, don't be rude to them at all or judge it too hard, it's by far the best food place in omaha, I LOVE coming here, so genuine family, you do need to speak up if you want something so if they forget something just remind them and they WILL get it for you. Home Cafe is a classic joint with an old school feel, reminiscent of the 90s. The decor is a mix of items collected over 60 years, giving it a pieced-together charm. The food is simple and cheap, with a reputation for making everything fresh from scratch. The staff is friendly and remembers regular customers, creating a genuine family atmosphere. The menu features standout dishes like the pork chop and eggs, which are fantastic. The place accepts only cash and can be a bit old and not the cleanest, with seats sometimes fixed with tape and a bathroom that’s not ideal. Despite this, prices have stayed the same for years, making it a great spot for a no-rush coffee refill experience. It’s a favorite local spot where surprises are part of its charm, and customers are encouraged to speak up if they need anything.
