Shiki is a beautiful upscale-casual restaurant that offers a stunning atmosphere inspired by Asian design, making guests feel transported out of Omaha. The interior is beautifully decorated, creating a nice setting for date nights or special occasions. The restaurant features a variety of unique dining areas, including a traditional tea room and a cherry blossom garden atmosphere, which add to its charm.
The menu includes a wide selection of sushi rolls, including favorites like the Maui roll with coconut and pineapple, and special dishes such as the build your own bento box, which comes with appetizers, salad, and fruit. The kimchi rice is highly praised as perfection, and the fried pork and Brussels sprouts are noted for their crunch and flavor. The baby octopus salad is considered a standout dish, with many reviewers eager to return just for it. Other appreciated items include fried dumplings and the mango crab rangoons, although some found the sushi rolls and other dishes to be simple or bland.
Shiki also offers a diverse drinks menu, featuring top-notch cocktails including tequila and mezcal options like Don Fulano, and Japanese beer and pineapple sake. The presentation of food and drinks is often described as gorgeous, contributing to a premium dining experience. Service is generally attentive and friendly, with staff and the owner actively greeting and engaging with guests.
While the atmosphere and food are highly praised, some mention that prices can be higher compared to similar restaurants, especially for dishes like saffron linguine. Reservations are recommended, although some guests experienced issues with seating if overbooked. Overall, Shiki is appreciated for its beautiful setting, delicious food, and excellent service.
