If you are looking for a nice dinner in the Merrimack/Amherst/Bedford/Manch area, try Trattori Fondi at the BVI! We have been several times and it does not disappoint! I got the chance to catch up with one of my girls there last night. It is our usual meet up spot and such a great atmosphere and meal! The staff is beyond kind and I love that they can read a room. They are not rushing you but still checking in at just the right times. Spring Panzenella Salad, Linguini Nero and Hugo Spritz.. yummy!!
Beautiful elegant setting. The food was innovative and delightful!
Awesome food and desserts
Great atmosphere and food! Never too crowded like Copper Door.
Dress nicely there! Lol My husband and I went there for the first time in our sweater pants and sweatshirt. We thought it was very casual like other taverns we’ve been to. I almost left when I saw the fine dining part. Then my husband asked, and the staff was very nice and directed us to the tavern side. Even there, it’s no sweatpants sweatshirt type of vibe 😂 Food was really good, service was great too! We left very happy. Definitely going back again soon with better dressing!!
Beautiful restaurant and event facilities. Very unique European like high end “Stuben - Gasthof“ Settings. Food is good does Not Match up the Atmosphere. Unfortunately the management is third on the podest.
As we always enjoyed the Tavern setting we keep running in to strange stipulations never heard before.
Last year 4 of us dined there came in at 7. Cocktails, apps dinner bottle of wine dessert and after dinner drink. At this time it was around 9.
Dessert was in as the server came back and said they can’t serve liquor past 9! Okay you didn’t mention that and we would just like to finish up and settle up. As we were talking to her, we hear the bar printer and a server walking up. Bartender making drinks. So we asked for a manager. He came over and stood ground for his staff member, which I respect since he is the rule enforcer and staff educator. Once I mentioned that we just saw another employee pick up drinks afterwards he was still making excuses but honored our 2 nutty Irish man.
Great way to end a dinner.
Last Sunday we decided to go give it another shot. Our family party of 8 @ 6:15. Entire tavern empty except a 2 top in a corner.
Approx. 35 seats in there with barely anyone dining but one table. Hostess said she can give us either two 4 tops or a six top and a two top. No thank you we came here to enjoy dinner together.
Could you move two tables together please?
No it’s a fire hazard, emergency hazard - security hazard, we are restricted in moving furniture.
Again we asked for a manager who came out promptly. Again stood the ground of their policy.
We were not blocking emergency exits or sprinkler access systems or stairs nor elevator nor any disability protocol endangerment.
No. Was the answer. I acknowledged and thanked her as I watched the 4 servers in the background hanging out at the bar since our arrival gathered around just standing.
The manager wished us a pleasant evening.
As an employee I would be upset. For me as a customer you have lost me completely and forevermore.
If you do so well with your overall business that you can afford to keep an empty tavern - must obviously pay your staff that well to stand around and also look into an empty dining room, you clearly don’t need the extra business on a Sunday evening.
I get it, following rules and regulations is a must and how you run a clean and solid operation.
The last two experiences are far from. But close to very poor management and customer service by far.
Thank YOU @Copper Door for never disappointing by providing our family a wonderful evening after this disaster 🙌🏼
This place rocks! Great service, beautiful atmosphere, and delicious food all while being unpretentious and extremely welcoming. I am surprised I was able to walk in on a Friday evening. The NA beer, wine, and mocktail selection is better than any restaurant I have seen. I got the Hand on Heart Cabernet and it was wonderful. Very dry and the grape-juice-and-vinegar flavor that most NA wines have was nowhere to be found. The fancy fries were the best reimagining of poutine that I've had, and the 12oz sirloin was cooked perfectly. I cleaned my entire plate and can't think of one aspect of the meal that I would improve on. A truly wonderful experience. Will definitely be back!
lunch recently in the tavern, one of the restaurants at this location...lovely sort of old fashioned dining area, dark woods, and comfortable....we ate at the bar which is small and kind of high, but still nice...nicole was our bartender and she did a fine job, sharing with us the drinks makings as she prepared them...date loves pancakes and they were on the menu, so a pancake it was, and a bunch of them, which i understand you can get a smaller portion of, but she was very happy to have some to bring home and thought they were great....i had the brunch burger , big and excellent, but oddly served on a croissant, no way that was going to support a burger like this, so a no bread budger, was probably better for me anyway...great food and service...like this!!!
Absolutely beautiful tavern in an elegant old farm house. The decore was gorgeous with white linen table clothes in the dining rooms and very cozy. The food in the Tavern was delicious! Next visit I definitely want to dine in the dining room.
We were staying at The Grand Inn and we walked here for brunch. It was delicious we got the eggs Benedict, french dip, and french toast. The service was great as was the ambiance. We would eat here again!

Wonderful festive holiday evening
The food was very well done. The decor was cozy and warm. Staff are friendly and accommodating. I would not recommend the peanut butter pie, it lacked flavor and was more of a cheesecake.
Wonderful night!
The Tavern's ambiance is decidedly cozy. We had a fantastic time at the bar, enjoying the music, service, and warm atmosphere. The French Dip was flavorful. The barmaid's wine recommendation was spot on.
Always good, often great!
