“This is their first yelp review in almost 4 years ... what's that about? Anyways, I've been trying to sample their food for almost 2 years now and it's been impossible because they've been private catering exclusive for about that long now. Im glad they are doing so well but the thing is that if a food truck is doing this good that it is booked for private catering pretty much every week of the year, then by god they better have something special! So I keep checking their Facebook posts to see if they are ever going to offer a public date. They hardly ever post anything on their Facebook. And even when they do it's just teasing because it's stuff that I can't get unless I book them for myself. Finally a post comes along in July 2021 "We'll be at the Grass Drags!" in October. I had it written on my wall so I would never forget. I've never been to the grass drags but I was determined to get their BBQ. I didn't look into it, shame on me, but apparently I had to get a ticket to get in. Place must have been just as busy, if not MORE, as the friggin Big E! I think it was $20 a ticket, so I had to cough that up for me and my girl. $40 down the drain already. Oh and that was after the mile long walk to get into the place. We found the Hickory Stix truck easily enough only to find out that ... all they had were pulled meat sandys ... and some sides ... no sliced brisket, no ribs (you know ... the things that imply the name "Hickory Stix") Im sorry, when I want to taste the art of a BBQ place I need to eat their Ribs at bare minimum. Sliced Brisket is Second. Pulled stuff if there is nothing else, I don't ever EVER EVER Need it on a Sandwich! And yet that's all they had. So they had like a slider sampler combo, like a pulled Chicken slider, a pulled Pork slider, and chopped Brisket slider. And some Mac and Cheese and Beans. And that was something stupid expensive I can't even remember. And thinking my girl doesn't usually eat this stuff and there is tons of other food options around that I KNOW she'll like ... She waits till I'm about to pay for my order and she orders a pulled chicken sandwich ... And I can't make a big deal out of it in front of everyone so I have to dish out another $20 or whatever. So I've pretty much spent $100 now and I didn't even get to taste the one thing I thought I was going to get. Naturally she only eats about 1/3 of her sandwich which was the size of the slider that I got and I didn't even want to eat it. Short review time. All the meat was cold, but nothing gross, Beans were okay, Mac and cheese was excellent, Cornbread was meh, Slaw was terrible, done. Oh! And then my girl wanted lemonade and a caramel apple and candied nuts and french fries and friggin j*** chicken over rice that she took 2 bites of and said she didn't want it anymore ....... I spent about $200 that day for nothing. Tried to enjoy the grass drags and water drags for about a minute just so I could get something out of the day .... and then she complained it was too loud and wanted to leave ..... So anyways, I'm single now.“
“Solid menu with variety but not too many options. It's a barbecue place so you know what you're getting. The ribs in the brisket were delicious, the beans weren't too sweet, and the general vibe was enjoyable.Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and had a great attitude.Kid-friendliness: Well I didn't bring a child there were a ton of families there, and I can see why. The food is enjoyable for all.“
“I stopped by Border Brewery today for some lunch and a beer. I got the brisket sandwich, a side of baked beans and a pint of their strawberry wheat ale and all three did not disappoint. The food was very flavorful and some of my favorite BBQ I’ve had up north. The beer was light and refreshing without being too fruity. My only regret is I didn’t have a bigger stomach to try the whole menu, but I will definitely be making the drive back from Boston for seconds! Great cozy atmosphere with friendly workers and good music. I would definitely recommend!“
“After having his smash burgers, we thought we try his BBQ catering for our employee of the quarter lunch. It was amazing. Very flavorful and tender steak tips, chicken was moist. They even added rolls for us to use with the pulled pork. Showed up early and set up everything for us.“
“First time ordering from The Good Place and the food was amazing! We ordered a couple of breakfast items (omelette, home fries, pancakes, eggs, toast) and they were all delicious. Fresh, tasty, and great portions. The service was fast and the guy who greeted me at the door was nice and efficient. Definitely a great breakfast spot in Hudson!“
“Went Sunday St Patrick’s Day! They had the restaurant decorated with ballon banners for St. Patrick’s Day. The Irish Flag colored ballons were great! Green vases of flowers on the table, and of course Cornbeef/Irish cuisine was designed for the day. The mimosas are cold and delicious. Parking is at a minimum, you may need to get creative but worth it. It was very busy when we got there at 9am, when we left at 10 there were plenty of seats. Service was a little behind as you can imagine with every table full. But even with that, we got waited on as quick as possible. Great breakfast place. They also have an event room for rent or I have seen them use it for restaurant over flow.“
“My coworkers and I go to Smoke shack every Friday, because it's just that good! I've never had a bad item on the menu, the dining area is quaintly decorated, and the service is great. The business is family owned and they practically know us all by name at this point. My coworkers highly recommend the habanero melt, but if you're not one for spicy food, the Cuban or the hickory melt are both delicious.“
