Firstly, securing a reservation here was like getting an Act of Congress passed. Despite having a room reservation at the property and calling to request a table for two well in advance of our arrival, I had to call three times and leave several messages. It really shouldn't be that problematic to make a simple dinner reservation for two. Now one would think after the tremendous process of getting a dinner reservation confirmed that the actual experience would be worth the effort. Sadly, we felt disappointed with almost every aspect of the meal and overall experience. The wine by the glass list is the same as the mediocre offerings in the hotel's restaurant and bar; think Ecco Domani, La Marca prosecco, really cheap stuff that generally wouldn't satisfy serious wine enthusiasts. If you want a glass of champagne, you are out of luck, and will have to have the La Marca. Therefore you are also forced to order a bottle from the collection of wines, which would be fine for a larger party, or a big drinker, but this makes the meal very expensive for those who only want 1 or two glasses with the meal. On to the food, we ordered the brie starter which was nothing more than a giant slab of brie, literally served smashed beyond a palatable texture, and served with staled sliced bread. Delightful. My husband ordered the filet mignon and I had the halibut. His was not cooked or prepared well, and my halibut was overwhelmingly fishy tasting which was a little disturbing considering that halibut is usually a very mild white fish. I left more than half my meal on the plate. Last but not least, the ambience leaves a lot to be desired. There was only one server, and several other parties that she was serving. One table was exceptionally loud, with booming speaking tones despite the cellar being very quiet with no need to shout. They even started watching a tv show (Classy!) on their phone, with the volume at full blast no less, and it really detracted from the romantic and elegant experience we were promised. This is something we felt the restaurant should have identified and remedied. As regular visitors to the Mountain View Grand, we would never return here for dining, and strongly do not recommend.

Great experience, awesome wine list + farm to table entrees with wine pairings, high quality meal for couples

The room is very impressive, even if most of the wine bottles in the racks were empty fakes for décor only. I ordered the the seared foie gras and my wife the arugula salad. She loved hers while I had to search my plate for a few seconds to find the 1x2-inch slice of foie gras. With such a small portion its hard to tell if it was good or not. The main course was much better. My duck breast was excellent. The duck confit latke was a bit under cooked, but very tasty. My wife's scallops were wonderful. The crème brulée was very good and the portion ample. I was a little disappointed that they had no champagne, cava, or domestic sparkling wine by-the-glass, only prosecco. Our server was cheerful and accommodating. Unfortunately, she was the only server or busser for the entire room. We like a civilized interval between courses, but 3 hours for 3 courses is a bit much. In spite of my miniscule portion of foie gras, the meal would have been quire good if not for the long waits due to lack of staff.

Its difficult to make reservations to get in there because it doesn't have much seating, so book way ahead...but the food, wine, ambiance, service (Britney) was outstanding! Well worth the reservation hassle. Three of us got the filet and it was cooked to perfection. The Port reduction demiglace was perfect on it. The accompanying vegetables were excellent as well (but would ask for more of the mashed next time). our fourth had the rack of lamb and loved it as well. I also had the Burrata salad (substituted baby spinach for the arugula (that stuff and way to bitter to go with burrata!) and it was very good as well. The baby spinach went nicely...I'll be trying that again at home. The crème brûlée was just okay (not bad, but not great). If I get back up there again, the Wine Cellar is a must!

Came here for a girls overnight getaway and dined here. Loved the ambiance of the wine cellar (bring a sweater-its chilly down there! Menu is seasonal and slim, but literally everything was delicious, especially the scallop dish! Waitstaff was short staffed and a little curt, but everything else was delightful.

"View the world around you and treat others how you want to be treated" - I've never been so embarrassed in my life. After 4-hours of driving, my wife, brother, and I were turned away and told our reservation was no longer valid as we arrived wearing jeans and not dress pants. Mind you, we were dressed proper and prepared to celebrate a wonderful life event to the fullest extent at dinner. Mtn. View should be ashamed of their focus on social view rather than providing hospitable service. I, and my family will never spend a dime here again.

The room is special for sure it is a true wine cellar. However the food was about the worst I’ve ever had for a fine dining restaurant. The short rib was obviously left over it was dry and cold in the center. The golden Yukon mash potatoes were a grey/brown color, cold and tasted has the cream was bad in them. The crab cake were grey, old and horrible as well. My wife started the salad was the only thing she actually enjoyed. 5 course meal and the salad was the highlight. We almost cancel our reservation fir the other restaurant on property the next night thinking it was the same chef!!! My advice would be not to eat here!

We have enjoyed our time dining at this restaurant and cellar. The waitress B was excellent and very knowledgeable. The food is coming from their farm and absolutely worth the price. But do not order a wine cheaper than $50 because we ended up with a light hang over in the morning.

My Fiancé and I were celebrating our one year countdown to our wedding and this was the perfect place. Everything was excellent! The waitress was knowledgable and helped us pick out a delicious bottle of wine. The duck and ribeye were cooked to perfection, and the flavor was out of this world. We saved half just so we could enjoy the next day! Just be aware that it is a functioning wine cellar so it’s chillier than a normal restaurant, I was fine but others might be uncomfortable. We can’t wait to go back for another celebration!

I was so nervous to go here due to the reviews but they must have made a lot of changes because every single thing was excellent! Helpful hint for the ladies, wear something warm, it is freezing.

Having dinner in a wine cellar with only six other tables makes it feel so private, quiet, romantic! One alcove has a table for two or four with walls covered by wine racks. The ambiance is unbeatable if you're a wine lover or not! The food is incredible! The service outstanding! You need a reservation. It is a bit chilly since it is a wine cellar so dress accordingly.
