We were looking forward to coming here to celebrate our anniversary, though this ended up being the low of our trip. We chose the restaurant for good looking vegetarian options on the online menu, though there wasn't a single vegetarian entree on the menu when we got there. We ordered salad and the one pasta they could offer, though both were bland. I'm glad we had snacks at the brewery that afternoon and weren't too hungry. Our bread appetizer was brought out after the meal and placed behind the table decorations without care. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty, the server brought our check shortly after the food without being asked. Only after we had paid, were we asked if we wanted dessert. The dining room has a stunning view of the mountains which was the only positive in our evening with very poor service and unappetizing food.

Do not bother coming here during the offseason. My partner and I stayed for 3 days, and went to both the spa and the restaurant. While the amenities clearly have the potential to be nice, we had several instances of disappointing service or rude staff. The massages specifically were disappointing, and were originally the reason why we even came to stay here in the first place. Activities that were posted were not staffed, the advertised hot tub is out of service "permanently", in general the hotel is so eerily void of staff and guests that it seems haunted. On checkout, we also found that we were double charged for a dinner so it's important to triple check your folio. You are far better off going to many of the other great destinations anywhere in New England - if you're on the fence of whether or not to book, I strongly recommend you reconsider.

This place used to be a charming, but under new ownership it's gone downhill. Decor is sterile and unwelcoming. Food menu slashed. Activities mostly gone. Pool cold. No dressers to unpack. Staff trying but many could not communicate due to language barrier. Housekeeping barely came during our week long stay. It felt unsanitary.

Dinner for 3. Very noisy as school vacation. Server frenetic. Bread basket for purchase was not very good. Rolls not warm. Corn bread crumbly. French onion soup good. Kids buffet fair at best (daughter said whoopie pie was dry. Pasta just okay. I had the special for $62. It tasted good but steak was very small. Wines by the glass are basic. Husband had pork - meet ok but string beans very garlicky. Overall expensive for a noisy atmosphere and okay food at expensive prices.

We were a party of 4 and it took two hours to get our food. Two of the four dishes we ordered came out cold and they told us they would re-fire it, but after 20 minutes, they told us they would make new dishes, and we asked them to forget about it. One of the dishes (lamb shank) was mostly fat. The salmon was delicious. The manager told us that the kitchen was understaffed, but we don't understand how that's possible being that 3/4 of the restaurant was empty. Multiple groups came into the restaurant, ordered, and received their food after we did. This is statistically the worst meal we've ever had. I can't wait for every meal for the rest of my life to not be this bad.

This year was a bummer. We come up every Christmas and the hotel used to have a welcoming family holiday vibe. This year the doormen were gone and none of the staff even made eye contact. The only exception to that was the horribly rude bar tender who screams at every customer. I can't be the only person to mention her. The renovations are ok but the furnishings make the hotel cold, uninviting and corporate. it feels like a Hampton Inn now. The Christmas tree outside is sad. You really cut the top of the tree off to make it fit? That hotel needs over the top decorations, a hot coco bar, a pianist in the lobby and an overall infusion of holiday spirit. Basically everything they used to have. Christmas dinner this year was also a huge letdown. The cafe menu lacks options.

We were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary dinner at Mt. View Grand. It had been many years since our last visit. While the service was good, the food was disappointing. Of two appetizers and two dinners, only my Wedge Salad appetizer was good. My wife's appetizer, a Mushroom and Goat Cheese Tart, was very disappointing. It had a tough shell with mushrooms placed on top and had no flavor. Her main course, salmon, came with a mustard glaze that was completely burnt and uneatable, and her salmon was overcooked. My Cioppino came with a small piece of swordfish in a very bland sauce, and mussels that were uneatable. Either they were old, over cooked, or both, Instead of plump juicy mussels, these were stuck to the shells and stringy? At $52.00, this was a ripoff. I've had better Cioppino at half the price. Regarding atmosphere, while the wall and ceiling treatments are pretty, the overall atmosphere was bland and somewhat banquet-like. It certainly was not an intimate, dining experience. And while our reservation specified our anniversary, no attention was paid to it. It's a beautiful place but our dining experience was a real disappointment, and we do frequent fine dining restaurants.

The Mountain View Grand is so kid friendly, they have a pool, movie theater, and activity/game room with a pool table, ping pong, foosball, and air hockey. The food is good but it is expensive and has limited options. The staff is very kind. There is an amazing view of mountains out of every window.

This place used to be awesome. I guess the new owners don't care about food quality anymore. Limited selection and burnt food.

Wonderful experience! Our extended family spent several days over Columbus Day weekend at the Mountain View grand we ate at the restaurant twice… The view from the windows in the restaurant are spectacular, The food was excellent although the menu was very limited, my daughter and I are vegetarian and there was basically only one option for dinner make sure you order the bread basket it had several delicious breads … I would really like to talk about the staff. They were excellent so kind so efficient we had our 19 month old granddaughter with us and they brought her meal after the apps but before our meal which was perfect timing They also indulged her in lots of high-fives and fist bumps. I am so bad at names, but the entire group that we saw there, as well as the ones who came to our room with room service were just absolutely so warm and friendly. A terrific group of servers. The only complaint my husband had was to bump up your bourbon list he would’ve loved to of had a better selection of Bourbons to enjoy the evening with. We cannot wait to visit again

The food was fine, but a bit too salty. The bread basket consisted of very sweet bread (the hotel served perfectly good sourdough bread in the bar, which was much higher quality). But worst of all was the poor decor and the lighting was as bright and cold as a operating theatre in a hospital - what an awful taste. In light of the high prices this was a very disappointing restaurant.

We stayed for three nights at this superb resort, but most of our dining was from the Harvest kitchen in-room rather than in the dining room itself. Whatever we ordered, from turkey clubs to steak frites, we found everything to be first-rate. On the third night we dined in the restaurant proper. I had the Peri Peri half chicken (sizable) with mint jasmine rice, pickled veggies with a citrus yoghurt sauce. My partner had the shrimp scampi with giant trattole, in a garlic herb Chablis sauce. For a side we delighted in pan roasted Brussels sprouts magically prepared with maple butter and curried walnuts. We counted this as one of the most memorable meals in recent times. The chicken was roasted to a crispy paprika perfection and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The scampi with trattole was an unusual treat and simply scrumptious. For dessert we had a deep chocolate mousse coated with a chocolate glaze with a shortbread “moose” as a comic touch.Superb dining here really. Those diners who had unfortunate experiences couldn’t have been where we ate. Our server was bright, proactive, cheerful, and attentive. Perfect evening!

I recently stayed for a week at the Mountain View Grand Resort in New Hampshire, and it was an unforgettable experience.Pros:The views from both our room and the property in general were truly unmatched. Being nestled in the heart of the mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop throughout our stay. The llama experience was an absolute must-do; walking alongside these gentle creatures and enjoying breakfast afterward was a unique adventure. Axe throwing and visiting the farm with a variety of animals were also standout activities that added to the charm of the resort. The property itself was impeccably clean and accentuated its natural beauty. The Wine Cellar Restaurant was truly beautiful and a wonderful experience. We tried the bar, and the second restaurant, as well as room service and all was stellar!Cons:While the overall experience was nice there were a few areas that left something to be desired. The front desk service, in particular, was lacking. It felt as though we had to initiate every request, which, considering the substantial cost of our stay (few thousand) was somewhat disappointing. The rest of the staff (housekeeping, activities coordinator, bar and restaurant, and the porch employees were amazing, no complaints there) but the front desk staff truly need some hospitality training. When checking in they didn't offer a map of the premises (and it's a huge property) or schedule of the activities- I had to prompt them to give it to us and I had to ask for every add-on activity (times, price) because I researched them online, not because they offered. Had I not seen the llama experience or axe throwing we wouldn't have done it because we wouldn't have known. And truly all they had to do was provide us a paper they print with the daily activities (which they did once I asked). We were also not told about the spa or all its services (which we would've done) until the last day when it was too late. Additionally, the limited scheduling of certain activities was a bit restrictive. Axe throwing being available only once a day at 10 am and s'mores offered only three times a week, rather than nightly, made it challenging to fully enjoy these amenities. In conclusion, the Mountain View Grand Resort offers a stunning setting and spacious rooms with incredible views. However, there is room for improvement when it comes to the level of service and the availability of some activities. Despite these minor drawbacks, our overall experience was memorable, but unless they change their staff training we'd consider spending those 3 thousand dollars at the Mount Washington Resort down the road. The Mountain View Resort is a historic and beautiful property and their front desk staff should treat it as such and make guests feel valued and welcome, as well as enticed to take advantage of every amenity it has to offer.

Went to Harvest Table for dinner after visiting the Weathervane Theatre. I had made a 7:30 reservation. When I realized the play might run a bit longer I called during intermission to say that our party of 4 might be 10 minutes late. I was told, rather abruptly, that our table would not be held because the restaurant was sold out and if we couldn't arrive by 7:30 our reservation would be cancelled. We really wanted to try the newly renovated Harvest Table so we left the play early to arrive on time. To our surprise, the dining room was somewhat empty upon arrival and during our entire 1 hour 45 mins stay, there were at least 4 empty tables. The restaurant is fairly overpriced. I don't mind an overpriced menu if the food and ambience are outstanding, but unfortunately that was not the case. The party beside us left about 10 mins into our stay. There table was not cleaned the entire time we were there. Not a big deal, but if you're going to charge $50+ dollars for an entree, you need to make sure tables are cleaned within a few minutes of departure. My $54.50 steak was basic and the potatoes were lackluster. 2 of my friends ordered the swordfish...one was quite good and the other was clearly not the same dish!! The asparagus that came with one of my friend's dishes was raw. And, come on, a bar that charges $15 - $18 for drinks that runs out of martini glasses?? If you want to price yourself as a rockstar restaurant than you need to deliver a rockstar experience. This was not even close to that type of experience. I doubt I'd go back.
