My wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary by enjoying a child-free dinner on the Lafayette. The staff were very friendly and professional. The train ride had a vintage style, focusing on the 1950's decor and music. The food was overall fancy and delicious, although there was some options I opted out of. My only highlight for future travelers, I would point out one side has more scenery over the other and it doesn't change sides when returning.
Great experience and well worth the money. The staff was great and the food was amazing. We would go again.
Great atmosphere with very friendly staff that make the experience rewarding and memorable.

Cafe Lafayette offers a unique dining experience that combines the charm of train travel with a cozy atmosphere and light music. The location in New Hampshire provides scenic views, although some visitors feel the scenery is not as impressive as expected. The dome car is a standout feature, adding to the overall charm, but its design has faced some criticism. The food includes a 5-course meal that has received mixed reviews; highlights include the roll, salmon entree, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, and dessert. Some found the chicken piccata a bit dry, and the stuffed mushroom appetizer and salad were disappointing. Many guests find the staff to be attentive, warm, and accommodating, especially for food allergies, which enhances the welcoming environment. The experience is especially enjoyable on a cloudy day when the views might not be as spectacular, but the food can surprise with how good it is—sometimes better than the scenery. Parking is conveniently located next to the station, and arriving early is recommended. Overall, Cafe Lafayette offers a memorable adventure for those seeking a bucket-list experience, though some may find it suitable for just one visit.
