The gentleman was extremely friendly and welcoming, told me what they had and how long it would take (didn't take long at all!), food tasted GREAT! they definitely put care in their work. “We had a 50 person party yesterday I was pleasantly surprised with the buffet they put out for us and I have to give a HUGE shout out to Matt (I’m pretty sure that was his name. Big smile and his hair in a bun). He was the wait staff taking care of all of us and he killed it! Super pleasant and he worked his butt off to serve us all. “Came here with my family for a goodbye dinner, and I have to say it was quite cozy and cute inside. They are a BYOB restaurant, so we brought our own wine and our waiter opened and poured it for us throughout the visit making sure our glasses were always full. I strongly suggest they type up the specials for people to read and to view prices. The waiter told us the specials from memory; so of course, all three of us had questions to ask and the waiter was getting angry that we couldn’t remember all of what he just said. After we order, we receive these absolutely delicious breadsticks and they were gracious enough to bring out seconds! I ordered the meatballs as an appetizer, I thought they were really tasty and juicy! I ordered the Chicken Milanese as my entree. I thought the chicken was a bit dry and super thin, it definitely looked like a large piece of chicken but was very deceiving. I was very excited for dessert because I was told by the lady that everything was homemade. I also work in the restaurant industry; I recognized 3 of the desserts right away being from a restaurant company. She then told me that the Tiramisu was a family recipe of theirs and let me say this, it is a must try for sure. Tiramisu is a favorite of mine and it did not disappoint! The lady also sold me on ordering her cappuccino because she makes them really good; it was good and extra foamy. Overall, it was a nice experience. However, I don’t think I will be coming back anytime soon due to the prices. If I knew 3 meatballs were going to be $19 I would have skipped it. Same for some of the other dishes, especially on the specials menu. I get they are going for a more upscale feel but having your waiter and waitress sit a table away from you eating and talking with other workers doesn’t really give off that vibe.“

“Gatwyns II is a very good neighborhood restaurant/ bar. The food (Portuguese Mussels and Pizza) are great but the beer choices are very poor. Lack of attention from the bar tender can be too frequent but the table service is strong. Definitely recommended, some areas could use improvement but generally happy with this place.“

“Really good Thai food. We’ve been to Thailand and I rate their food as as good or even better than the best we’ve had in Thailand. And the young owners are so sweet and attentive.( But I hope they get a louder phone so they can hear the incoming phone calls that may be customers wanting to order-they missed 3 or so. They even did not see a customer coming in to order food for her family for takeout. Even though we all tried to get their attention in the kitchen). Minor stuff, of course. “Absolutely love the food at this restaurant! (I drive an hour from my house to go here for takeout and it’s so worth it) friendly staff as well. The mozzarella sticks are AMAZING! love the cheesecake, carrot cake, fried cauliflower, and the avocado rolls. they also have good vegan chocolate treats at the counter as well which are delicious. it’s an amazing alternative food options for those who are vegan or have a dairy allergy like I do! :)“

“Hidden Gem we found on our way from NYC to the Poconos. The owner, Mattar, who has been running this great restaurant for 40 years, seated us. Very nice ambiance and a robust menu. The most difficult part was deciding between so many delicious choices. We settled on sharing the Goat Cheese and Beet salad, cheddar broccoli soup, mushroom flatbread, and the short ribs, followed up with cappuccino. We loved everything and can't wait to come back. “This place is amazing! I don’t think I’ve had better service anywhere else. It took maybe 5-10 minutes for our food to come out and it was beyond delicious! The birria tacos, margaritas, and fresh made guacamole was the best I’ve had. We were beyond pleased with our server who went above and beyond! The outdoor seating and atmosphere was very pleasant as well. We will be returning soon!“

Our server for dinner, Devin went over menu, specials and drink specials along with making several personal recommendations. Every recommendation he made was spot on. From the limited time Valentine’s Day drinks to the appetizer to the main courses. He was very knowledgeable about the menu in general and took the time to answer any and all questions. I had the New York strip steak with foie gras add on. Wife had Scottish salmon. We went with the delmonico potatoes and Brussels sprouts for sides. Simple yet sooooooooooooo good. I’d go back again just for the sides. THEY WERE THAT GOOD! My steak was perfect (possibly best I’ve ever had) and my wife loved her salmon. We will for sure be back again. “We had a really fun time at Alice's last night! There's a bar downstairs called The Big Fish Lounge where we started off. Cozy bar and Friday night karaoke was a great way to relax with friends and enjoy some laughs. After we went upstairs to the restaurant for dinner. It was a casual menu and the food was good. I went with the bacon cheeseburger sliders which were tasty. All of us enjoyed our meals. On a Friday night in March, the place was pretty quiet. Friends have told us that it gets pretty packed here in the warmer weather. The setting is beautiful, right on the lake. Fun place!“

I made a resy for indoors but decided on outdoor patio after we got there b/c weather was good and people were out there. No one was inside lol. “Wow. The Black River Barn has outdone themselves again. What I remember growing up is an older pub feel with ok food, that has changed. It's now the most reasonably priced, delicious, kid and adult friendly food in a good part of Northern NJ. The atmosphere is palpable and full of life. Everyone loves their service, food, and drinks along with the prices. Can't say enough good about a restaurant I once wrote off as an older crowd. If you haven't visited in a while, give it another chance and they WILL impress you.“

“me and my boyfriend come here ALL the time. last night for valentine’s day, we made a reservation for 7:30, we knew they’d be pretty busy as a amazing hot spot, especially on a night like valentine’s day. we got our apps and drinks, but as 9:00 approached, we were still waiting for our food. we live about 20 mins from there and were getting kind of tired and decided to ask to have our food packaged to go. being that at that time, they were still extremely busy, nevermind the overflow of take out orders, the staff was absolutely incredible. we could see them rushing around, but making sure to attend each table! their hard work did not go unnoticed!!!!! we felt bad about having changed our order to go, if we had made our reservation for earlier, we definitely would’ve sat and stayed. a HUGE THANK YOU TO THE AMAZING STAFF AND KITCHEN!!!!! they packed our food to go, and 2 kitchen staff came and apologized for it taking so long, we which SO understood, and didn’t want them to feel bad at all!! when we got home, we had noticed that free of charge, they gave us another round of the appetizers we ordered, FOR FREE, and also threw in a free order of shrimp dumplings that we did not order!!! i didn’t want their kind actions to go unnoticed. we thank you so much for your kindness, and can’t wait to come back again soon!!!! this place is just the best!!! never disappointed!“

Excellent pasta fagioli soup, huge slices of pizza, and overstuffed, cheesesteak. Great service and reasonable prices. We were informed there is an extra charge if you're not paying cash. This is becoming a common practice and we were informed of it. Server was excellent and made us feel welcome. Tonight was a simple pie, a little extra done as we requested. Add a small order of buffalo wings and a salad, we’re set. My wife likes that they have fountain birch beer. Their crust is perfect, never disappoints.It is a hidden gem in a shopping mall, that’s outlived quite a few other restaurants. We’ve met some great people over the years in this hometown gem. We shared the spring rolls which were crispy and amazing, the steamed dumplings which were ok but the garlic on top made them even better, pad see ew which could’ve used a little more sauce (and weren’t the usual flat noodles) but still delicious, and the green curry which was incredible. Large portions too. The green curry wasn’t too spicy. I usually like a 3/5 spice and that’s pretty much what it was. Spicy but not too spicy where there’s no flavor, it was a perfect balance. “I would definitely return to this place. The quality of pizza wasn't top notch per se, but by Hopatcong standards? It's the best we've had. The pizza crust was super toasty to perfection. The cheese to sauce ratio was perfectly distributed. It was just a really good pizza. Not super salty like I've had at other places. The only negative I'd give the pizza is that a large pie is actually more like a medium. To be fair, I'd pay for a smaller pie with quality ingredients than I would for a larger pie with cheaper ones. We also ordered two orders of wings. Mild & BBQ. First, their blue cheese actually tasted like real blue cheese dip & not something out of a container (even if it was). BBQ wings were great, but as far as mild i think I'll just order the hot ones next time. The taste was good but the batter on the wings was a pretty light coat, though I know some people prefer that. It also could've used a little more meat. Price was reasonable I think, which is fair considering the portions. Overall, their customer service also helps their review. Professional over the phone & actually greet you when you walk in. It may not be with a huge smile, but a simple hello goes a long way. We may try other pizza places just in case,. However, here the taste is pretty good (wings included), this may be our main go to pizza shop.“

Being from out of town, we had no idea that on Sunday's the kids from the drama program at the local high school perform songs for the patrons. (We had to ask because we were like, WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING?). They were talented kids for sure. It made the environment a bit loud, but our waiter delivered our water WHILE belting out a broadway show tune. Impressive. The menu has lots of good options and our food was good.
