The best hidden gem in Ocean County! It’s so peaceful and beautiful the lady and her son are wonderful guides and the artifacts are amazing oh she also recommended to check for ticks if you are walking the trails.
This historic site is still developing as a county park centered on the restored tavern which was the center of the last land skirmish of the American Revolution. The inside houses a nice, modern museum for the site and its more than 300 year history. Outbuildings are being reconstructed and restored. The tavern, accesses by an unpaved rock and sand road is surrounded by dense, native forest. New hiking trails has been blazed through this unspoiled forest, but it is still primitive...
