I tried this restaurant for the first time recently and I was really impressed. The food was fantastic, delicious and flavorful. Everyone from the host to the servers were extremely hospitable and friendly. We started with the naan and lentil soup. Then ordered the lamb chops and chicken qorma. The baklava for desert ended the meal perfectly. I can’t wait to visit again!

If I could rate 0 I would…So first off, the food was tasteless and bland. Nothing I would expect of Afghani food. Highly disappointed especially because of all the high reviews. Another factor that I don’t understand is pricing - the portion is very small so I don’t feel the pricing matches what is being served. The kabuli pulao didn’t even have any salt so forget flavor and the carrots and raisins weren’t incorporated in the rice - just thrown on the side. Soggy carrots and raisins on the side with no flavor rice is not a good combo. The chicken kabob was flavorless and just tasted plain weird. I legitimately couldn’t eat it. Just a strange taste. Next, tried the mantu since we love this dish. The mantu includes red lentils that were completely undercooked / hard as can be and will make someone’s stomach hurt. Another aspect of the mantu was that the beef was gamey and the wonton wrappers were hard. A total disappointment. The sauces there are also really vinegary and lemony too much so in my opinion. I think the only good thing about the meal was the lentil soup and the bread. Servers were nice and respectful so no issue there just the food was a big no. They also had a pretty setup but they should work on the food and improving taste. I thought the meal would be spectacular because of this but it just kept disappointing me. Do not waste your time and money here and go to somewhere that serves authentic Afghani food!

I’ve been to the Hills of Herat at least 5 times and it is wonderful every time. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is friendly and accommodating. Such a pleasant atmosphere with lovely people.

One of the best restaurants in NJ! From the complimentary bread & soup to our entrees to tea & dessert - everything was prepared and seasoned to perfection. The restaurant was also so beautifully designed with decorated. Not to mention the top notch service! We will definitely be back.

Most delicious food I have eaten in a long long time. This place is awesome, the ambience is so nice and the food is even better. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend good time with friends and family and enjoy authentic tasty Afghani food.
