I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful dining experience we had at your establishment. The food was truly exceptional; the crispy pata was particularly outstanding, a highlight of our meal. Beyond the delicious food, the friendly and attentive service provided by your staff made our visit even more enjoyable. We felt genuinely welcomed and appreciated throughout our time there. We're already looking forward to returning and experiencing your menu again soon. Kuya Allen thank you for going above and beyond. You are appreciated
Max's is a chain of international Filipino-cuisine restaurants with multiple locations in the US, Canada, the Middle East and, of course, the Philippines. We are blessed that there is one nearby in Jersey! The authentic food and authentic service (i.e. extraordinarily friendly) make this place worth a visit.
Food was brought out to my birthday party of ten promptly and served family-style: Deep plates of entrees are set before you and everybody serves themselves from it. We ordered the following and each is certainly recommendable:
- Max's fried chicken, their signature dish served with fries
- Sinigang na Baboy - pork and veggies in a tamarind broth
- Tofu Sisig - a vegetarian riff on the Filipino sizzling pork dish
- Lechon Kawali - deep fried pork belly
- Pancit palabok - rice noodles in a shrimp and pork sauce
- Kare-kare - Beef and veggies in a peanut sauce
- Pancit Bihon - fried noodles with chicken, shrimp and pork
- Turon - Bananas fried in a crispy wrapper, served with caramel sauce
- Halo-halo - "A blend of refreshing tropical fruit preserves, beans, and milk in shaved ice. Topped with a delicious scoop of Ube (purple yam) ice cream, flan, and rice flakes."
The servers are extremely friendly and polite - they seem like the type to bend over backwards to help you. We asked for a bottle of water before our food came out for one of our kids who was extremely thirsty. When it was brought to us, the server was sincerely concerned for her welfare.
When it was notified that it was the birthday for one of us, they all came out, sang and the celebrant was given a complementary slice of flan with a candle.
For dessert we ordered turon and the large-size halo-halo. This was was a crazy spectacle with all the usual ingredients but also studded with piroulines and paper parasols, all in a huge glass goblet (see my picture). They brought out cups so we could all share in it.
The space isn't huge, but that doesn't matter. It's a nice place: the modern faux-brick paneling is pleasant, wooden tables and chairs are clean and sturdy - this is not a hole-in-the wall nor a greasy burger chain.
A visit to Max's is a great option for your Filipino-food fix. It's got more of a variety than Jollibee (and probably healthier) and it's got a home-y flavor. The only gripe I have is the parking situation as it's located in a popular strip mall with a dearth of spots. It's always full with people people camping or jockeying for an opportunity. Otherwise, don't hesitate to drop by!
Edit: we ordered food to take out at another date and I've added pics of those dishes.

Awesome place. I came in here with a party of 9 and I had a great time. Despite being a large party and ordering a lot of food, the service was still quite fast. The servers were super friendly, which definitely helped with the atmosphere. It is hard to come across good authentic Filipino food, but this place does it right.
Wheelchair accessibility: I saw a customer here who was using a wheelchair, so I'd say it is wheelchair-friendly.

We had a great time at Max’s for my husband’s father’s day celebration. Food was all great and big servings. We had a lot of take out. Plus, the servers were really nice and respectful. They were all friendly and accommodating. We will be back for sure!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere! A must stop for true authentic Philippine cuisine!!! My wife and I tried the Mother's Day Bulalo pack for a very reasonable price of $72 which included: whole chicken with fries, Crispy Pata, Bulalo and choice of Pancit. We also had Buko juice in glasses (not cans) and Mango sticky rice (warmed) for dessert. Our wait staff were very professional, respectful and friendly. There was plenty of food to take home. This particular Max's restaurant is in Bloomfield, NJ approximately one hour off the GSP from Orange County, NY.This restaurant is located in a strip mall. Before we entered the restaurant that opens on 11 on a Sunday. My wife and I shopped in a Phil-Am market right next to it which is plentiful in groceries, fresh vegetables and fish...a must try. All in all, a wonderful experience!
Parking: Plenty of parking but on a Sunday I strongly suggest getting there early as the adjacent stores are mostly open for business and parking can be limited. Parking is also free.

Hit-or-miss??Wont recommend getting crispy pata here.I ordered crispy pata for dinner. We didn’t enjoy it coz it was chewy & gooey instead of crispy & the oil they used was old:(Very disappointed! it’s a shame! it doesn’t taste like Max at all.If u want your customer happy,do it the proper/right way.

We odered take out, it 4 times to call the number no one was answering the 3 times that we called. The 4th time some one picked up the phone and took my order. I purposely gave an additional 10 minutes to pickup order so I didn’t have to wait.Surprise my wife went to pickup and she said the order was ready but nobody bothered to ask her why she was there.I understand they’re busy but it should not have happened, this not the first time this happened. Probably won’t be back again

Authentic Filipino meals are not easy to come by, but Max's restaurant comes prepared with some of the best meals I've had in a while!!! Our server was PJ, super friendly and helped my Lola (Grandma) feel like family ?!! We had a slight hiccup when Lola ordered a meal with pork in it, but PJ wanted to help us fix it with no hassle, and we're extremely grateful! The service, atmosphere and food are all top notch, and we were absolutely spoiled, so go enjoy a great meal with some amazing culture ?!
Parking: Not the restaurant's fault, but the location itself has a small lot dedicated to another restaurant and a small grocery store.

The food is good and the service is great! Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because cleanliness needs to improve a little.

The food here went beyond our expectations. We ordered our appetizers: chicharong bulaklak and fresh lumpiang ubod. The bulaklak was not dry and the serving was adequate enough to not make our heads explode due to its cholesterol. The fresh lumpia was majetically tasty. Just like before, the serving was enough. For our main course, we had fried chicken (obviously), kare-kare, bulalo, andcrispy pata. My goodness! Their food was awesome. The fried chicken was neither dry nor greasy. We thought it would be greasy but it was perfect. The kare-kare was so creamy and the bulalo was okay. We wished for bone marrow. All in all, the food was tasty, and not salty that could give you kidney failure (just like people fail in life because of their blatant stupidity). For desserts, we had buko pandan and leche flan. The buko pandan was a little sweet because there was an ice cream on top of it (sweeter than people’s relationships these days). The leche flan could have been creamier but it was okay. The atmosphere was okay because it’s little bit cold since the place is small and the doors kept opening. The price was great for the meals.Addendum est: The service was majestic. Filipino hospitality at its finest
Parking: It could be difficult during some days because there are other stores that surround the plaza

We came here for take-out. As always, the fried chicken and pancit were delicioso. Staff was friendly. The grass green backdrop is great for photoshoot. One big issue for me was the obnoxious odor that greeted me when I entered the resto. Other than that, all’s good in this Max’s resto.
