My wife & I stayed at Congress Hall Hotel. After a nice meal we decided to relax in the Brown Room there.

We just love LOVE the atmosphere here!! Lights dimly lit. Nice fire going in the fireplace. Staff kept logs on the fire to keep it just right.

Our server Michelle was awesome! She was professional, friendly and excellent service!! All with a big smile. The bartender made a perfect Old Fashioned drink. Don’t know who he was. Kudos to you.

Mike the guitar player was excellent. It was so cozy sitting in the lounge with a nice fire and listening to Mike’s playing. Wow!!! He played (& sang great)!!

Thank you Michelle, Mike & bartenders for making this such a memorable stay. Looking forward to a visit in the future.

Atmosphere was great… fellow customers there were awesome… drinks were great… music good. Unfortunately the bartender was very rude. He obviously did not want to be there. I recommend the place and brought friends there and it really just put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

Always a great time at the Brown room, Christmas time is special and Mackenzie is wonderful! The peppermint martini, live music and hummus plate were great! Can’t wait to come back in the spring. Congress hall is spectacular itself but this hidden little gem is a must visit!

We stopped in the Brown Room for a quick bite to eat and a couple of cocktails. We arrived at brunch time, and didn't want to wait for the full restaurant, so we slipped in here, and we were not disappointed!! Fantastic cocktails, and delicious lobster rolls!! Highly recommend a visit!

Phenomenal drinks and the setting is top tier. Make sure you stop by and grab you an evening beverage.
Picked both of these from the brown room originals menu and they were both top tier.

The Brown Room is a classy bar inside Congress Hall with a timeless feel. Bartenders in white jackets and black ties set the tone, and the space itself has a touch of speakeasy charm—without having to track it down.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with velvet couches, a half-circle bar, and live music that makes it feel like you’re enjoying cocktails right in your own living room. On weekends, the vibe is especially lively.

I had their Old Fashioned 🥃 and it was perfectly balanced and delicious. Creative custom drinks, great ambiance, and a touch of elegance—The Brown Room is definitely worth a stop.

Bar was excellent!! Live music & bartender, Sandy? I think her name was’ super nice! Told us about the boiler room- my fiancé and I had a great time!

Always a nice time in the Brown Room! Although it's very hard to get in, we sometimes get lucky & get seats. I love listening to the music, enjoying a cocktail & sometimes something to eat. Recently I enjoyed the cheese/charcuterie plate. Service is good. I remember this place used to take reservations & they no longer do. Perhaps they should go back to that so that everyone gets a chance to get in there as some people camp out there for hours! The interior is so lovely!

Had a great time relaxing by the fire I'm the brown room. Comfortable seating and life music really set the mood. Had some delicious Old Fashioneds and my wife enjoyed the apple pie

Poor service if you don’t look the part. Not family friendly. Patrons are nice but not the staff.

Great drinks and friendly staff!

We brought friends here on two occasions and the bartender (woman with dark hair) was on with one other guy and the bar was packed and it was impossible to get a drink. We have been so disappointed in what used to be an upscale experience. It has really gone downhill. They do not have enough help at all. Forget about coming on the night of the Christmas Tree Lighting. It was wall to wall people and every bar (inside and out) had 30-40 people in line trying to get a drink. The restrooms had 15-20 people waiting in line. It was not enjoyable at all. We ending up leaving and went to Fins to have a nice drink.

The Brown Room is an excellent, well designed cocktail bar that used to be among my favorite bars anywhere but definitely the best in Cape May.

When I first started coming here years ago you needed a reservation and there was an element of exclusivity which enhanced the experience. It was a relaxing top tier atmosphere with live music and excellent cocktails.

They seem to have significantly softened on the reservation / entry policies and the place has become a free for fall. Tons of kids at times which I don’t feel is appropriate for this setting- all the other dining areas in Congress Hall are much more kid friendly. It’s often too crowded and they seem to have done away with reservations altogether even for Congress Hall guests which I can’t understand.

The cocktails are still great as are the bartenders and the live entertainment but the overall experience has been really disappointing of late. I would really consider going back to a reservation based system and having some level of crowd control.

We want this past Sunday 12/8 around 5PM hoping to have a couple of drinks and hummus. We walk in and it was a free for all. The 5 or 6 tables to the left had no one sitting on them but stuff all over them from families with kids. A lady with a badge on who was standing there just turned away not even thinking to help us. Congress Hall is a great property but The Brown Room which was once a civilized place to relax and have a drink will not see me ever again. I realize thru probably don’t even care but if you are reading this think twice about a visit. Plenty of other places in Cape May to go.

Did not say at the hotel came to listen to the musician who played the piano and sang. Was very relaxing and casual.
