Billy, the Manager at Hemingway’s was exceptional. The attention to detail and customer service even in his busiest time was above and beyond our expectations! We’d like to thank him, our server Anna and the wonderful staff who were also excellent and makes us look forward to coming back. We highly recommend this restaurant!

First we had to stand around while the hostess ran menus across the room and then took long orders by phone--all while we and another party stood waiting. I ordered the bacon bleu burger which was listed in the menu as actually having bacon as well as crabmeat. It came with neither but the price was not dropped. This establishment doesn't quite know what it wants to be and it shows. Some staff are friendly, some are sullen. It is not upscale and it offers a mediocre experience. Bottom line, there is no quality assurance going on here and some things go well and others do not. I should not have to question why my burger did not come with the items the menu stated and I didn't. I had a tablemate who wanted the bacon so it wasn't a big deal for me but it is a big deal that it is part of the price attached. Things were rather willy nilly. The layout is not optimal and if you end up seated at a high top, don't expect quick or consistent service. My overall impression is that they just don't really care and their heart in not in the operation of the restaurant. The pic of Hemingway on the wall is stunning., though

We absolutely will be back when we return to Cape May. The service was exceptional, the manager, Bill went above and beyond to be sure we were taken care of, and Haley and Brianna also provided great service and gave us a reason to want to come back each night for dinner while we stayed at the Grand Hotel. Thank you again for a great experience!

We stayed at the Grand Hotel for my son and daughter in law’s wedding. We checked in May 30th and went down to Hemingways for dinner. We walked in and were greeted by the manager Bill with smile. He got us seated quickly, and dinner was absolutely delicious. May 31st after the ceremony we went back to Hemingways for their celebration dinner, and once again everything we had was delicious!! Bill went totally above and beyond and more to make the night absolutely perfect! What a wonderful night we all had celebrating. A huge thank you to Bill and his staff for all they did to make everything perfect! We will definitely take the hour drive back!

It was a very bad experience I ordered Oyster Rockefeller , and Prime rib. They were out of Oysters so I got Lobster bisque that was ok. The wrong entree come out so she took it back. After waiting and everyone else was done eating my prime rib come out and it was very raw I ordered medium. It was inedible. it was like cutting a wet wash rag with a fork after sending it back the manager said that the desert was on him! I told the waitress to take my dinner off the check. Never again

What a great dining experience in beautiful Cape May. Service was excellent! Our server and manager were great, friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and the music was a pleasant surprise on a Friday night. Would definitely recommend 👌.

Stayed here last year for the escape the Cape beach weekend. Coming back again this weekend. This place is awesome. Breakfast lunch and dinner were great. You can also order from the pool bar and they will deliver it to your lounge chair. We also took drinks down to the beach. Can’t wait to get back.

We celebrated our 53rd anniversary there tonight. They could not have been nicer to us. They treated us to a very special evening. Balloons at the table and complimentary champagne. They also treated us to a dessert of our choice. The food was delicious. I think we found our new favorite restaurant.

We dined at Hemmingway’s in Cape May this weekend and it was outstanding. The restaurant is chic and intimate with beautiful finishes. On the drink menu: a modern take on traditional selections punctuated with creative flourishes and exotic flavors. The legacy of Hemmingway’s chef is scrupulously upheld in generous portions of food that shines the spotlight on unpretentiously crafted regional produce. Some of the house’s iconic dishes still grace the menu, such as the crab cakes. The chef cooks up generous cuisine, including some designed for sharing. The crabcakes with quality seasonal vegetables were gourmet made with simple ingredients that tasted like it had been growing in the sun a few hours ago. The chef walks table to table and explained that the crab came from Indonesia and the preparation is simple. To me, this experiencing is essential, and Hemmingway’s gets it right. This is a place in Cape May that is an experience through food and wine, as well as interactions with the people responsible for putting them on the table. What can be better than to have a waitress named Annna who can inspire the customer through effective communication. When she spoke about the menu the room came alive, and her energy was tremendous. She asked us the right questions and her listening skills were more important that her communication. She has a gift to connect with people on a personal level. Ask for her the next time you dine at Hemmingway’s in Cape May.

Hemmingway’s is a must visit restaurant in Cape May New Jersey. The décor is outstanding and warm. The manager Bill is a hands-on who is part of the team. Being a leader, he is respected by his staff for jumping in at a moment’s notice. Because of a hands-on Manager as Bill the service is exceptional. We had Brianna and she is top notch. Please ask for her, so helpful and with a smile. The Chef takes the time for the menu to be thoughtful and is very creative based on the regional and seasonal specialties. The food is all about the flavors and the chef at Hemmingway’s has a well-developed palate and can build on flavor profiles. The Chef at Hemmingway’s is exceptional at what he does and is known for his innovative style of cuisine, the chef comes to the table and talks to the customers, he is a consummate communicator. For individuals who don’t manage to get a reservation you can sit at the long bar where there is an array of impressive cocktails with unique flavoring. Hemmingways is an exceptional experience in Cape May.

Hemmingways in Cape May is just steps away from the beach and the famous Promenade, while inside is an ever-trendy, stylish space where it is known for the gorgeous setting that is a hot commodity all week long. It’s unfortunate because this place had potential but the food was a disappointment. I ordered the scallops featured in the first photo. The cook on them was subpar and the rice underneath was dry, cold, and lacked a light/fluffy texture. The crab cakes in the second photo weren’t anything to write home about, the rice was the same as the scallop dish and the couple veggies… well, you can just see how they look on the plate. The third photo is our appetizers. Though the one was very good, the calamari was gross! It was not crispy, the breading was gritty and mushy. The service was bad; the waitress was inattentive and served half the meals while others at the table had to sit and wait. It was a hassle to try to find her to refill water glasses or have her simply ask how our meal was. We will not be going back. It’s not worth the money.

Was good the first night when there was only a few tables. Second night it was busy and service lacked beef wellington for 59.00 was over cooked baked potato looked like it had been sitting there for quite a while, the crab cakes good one night and more filler the next night.
Garlic mashed were not garlic mashed. Was very disappointed ? the final night. Took 2 hrs for 2 people .

Beyond disappointed with our anniversary meal here. Seafood food diavolo was rubber and small mussels and calamari. The waitress complained about her other tables every time she came to our table. The only bonus was she barely came to our table so we didn’t have to hear it often. Terrible way to spend $170 for 2.
