Went here last night for my wedding anniversary. If you get there early then you have to wait at the bar which I understand as they have limited seating. Once we were seated, the waitress was wonderful. I ordered an appetizer which was great. The bread came out with 2 different dipping options which again was great. The salad was ehh. I took a few bites but it wasn’t great. I was so excited for my steak as everything else was so delicious and the steak was absolutely horrible. All of the dishes are charred but our steaks were BURNT with no seasoning at all. It was the worst steak I’ve ever had and for the money-I was more than disappointed especially because everything else was so good. The inside was raw as well. For a $300 dinner, we expected to have the whole meal good, not just the appetizer and bread. We wouldn’t not go back as there is plenty of other local places that have better steak.

We’ve been to Primal many times and we go all year round!! We went this past Saturday night. We had the same server last few times and as soon as we sat down he said, so sorry but the we’re out of the Yukon mashed…which is an excellent side we always get. We cried lol So we chose a different side. Our server comes back little while later with Yukon mashed Mia must’ve either just made for us or scraped from the pan 😂 So very nice!! Was delicious as always!! My son and I shared the porterhouse for 2 with lobster tail. My wife had the filet mignon. Excellent as always!!! Their 2 new apps…excellent!! They are so so nice at Primal and make us feel so comfortable all the time!! Thank you for another great meal!!! See you again soon!!!

It’s not often that I can’t wait to come home from dinner to write my review and lately I’ve been less than impressed with anywhere . Our dinner tonight at Primal was just superb . From the sweet hostess , to the beautiful decor and music to begin with and our server (Anna ). The food was so delicious and different . Congrats to you Mia ! You nailed it !

Love everything about this restaurant from views, service and of course food choices. Tonight we started off with the Lobster ravioli appetizer in a shallot sauce, followed by a house salad and then we split the filet and lobster tail. The quality of food is amazing and we always enjoy our meals at Primal!

Had one of, if Not the best meals here, very Quaint Atmosphere, Service was Exceptional we got the Tartat and the Pork Belly, OMG and Yum to both..... The pork belly melt in ur mouth, the Tartar was Awesome, then a Salad came that was so fresh and full of Shaved Regiano Parmeasean cheese perfectly seasoned, who takes salad home........ Me...... it was that good, next Chilean Sea Bass for her, Lamb Chops for me...... Both cooked perfectly The Server suggested the Yucon mash along with Mushrooms and onions .......Unbelievable, then a Desert course came and yah talk about luck the plate clean....... if you wanna escape and forget and while ur at it have a great Dining Experience day no more, it's worth the drive and it's a 1 shot drive down parkway....... Do it you'll be very very happy you did, Thanks Mia & John you Guys are Awesome, we'll be back

Looking so forward to my birthday dinner at Primal with family. Followed what everyone stated about when to book reservations and then… we arrived at 4:46 for a 5:15 reservation. It was raining that day and we’re trying to get there between the rain drops.
My daughter in law went in to ask if we could be possibly be seated at 5 and a rude waitress stated she could not even address our inquiry until 5:00. If the first reservation is at 5, what time do they think people come? I always show up at least 10-15 minutes prior. That isn’t even what really turned us off. We had our two grandsons with us and asked for boosters or high chairs and we were looked at like we had 10 heads. No, they do not. If you are an adult only restaurant, please just state that on your Facebook and website. Stating that would have saved so much stress that day and a disappointment for my birthday dinner. I understand if some restaurants are adult only. Needless to say, we had no choice but to leave and scramble for a place to celebrate my birthday. Wish Primal the best, but just state who you cater to and who you do not.

Excellent!!! Best dinner in Cape May. The fish and steaks are outstanding and perfectly prepared. The location is also magical, right on the beach, with ocean views from every angle.
I was here in 2023 and thought the NY Strip was the best I ever had, and believe me I know my steaks. When I’m not dining out at the top steakhouses, I’m smoking finely marbled beauties at home at low heat, and finishing at high heat (aka reverse sear) and always get highest compliments from guests. I finally came back to Primal last week and I was disappointed. I don’t recall if in 2023 the NY Strip was Certified Angus Beef, or USDA Prime, but I generally feel that CAB is inferior or unpredictable at best. The beef I had at Primal last week, billed as CAB, tasted like USDA Choice to me. It was a very “average” steak in my opinion. I literally said to my wife, I don’t need to ever come here again. The location being directly on the beach, is a competitive advantage in Cape May for sure, but not worth Primal’s prices, and for what my discerning tastebuds crave.

Smells amazing as you walk in the door and the ambience is super inviting. The food was absolutely delicious we had the filet and tail, both of which were cooked to perfection. I have been there a few times prior and tried the tomahawk and the halibut, which were also really really good. Servers were attentive and engaged with us…all in all it was a great dining experience!! Hope you all have the same experience we did. Of course we will be back!
