Really nice spot with a great vibe — the ambience was warm and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive from the start. The food was pretty good overall, and the mimosas were definitely strong, which we appreciated!
Only downside: the home fries came with peppers and onions, which weren’t mentioned on the menu — would’ve been good to know in advance. Still, a solid brunch spot we’d consider returning to!
CAPE MAY: Blue Pig Tavern is a classy restaurant serving up elevated American cuisine and drinks amongst the historic Congress Hall, Cape May resort. Blue Pig Tavern allows leashed and friendly dogs at their seasonal outdoor seating and we really enjoyed dining under the pergola with fall decor and the backdrop of the hall. Serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we savored the avocado toast, eggs benedict, a side of home fries, and a nice warm latte on a chilly morning. In the off-season, they have portable heaters to keep things cozy. (FYI, Congress Hall hotel is not dog friendly inside.)
Delicious food in a lovely location, excellent service
My partner and I enjoyed lovely dinner at The Big Blue Tavern located inside the beautiful Congress Hall Hotel. The rustic, old-school vibe gave it a cozy charm, and the location couldn’t be better- right in the heart of Cape May.
We took advantage of their Restaurant Week deal ($50 per person) which was a solid value. The food was delicious. I started with the fried calamari, crispy and well-seasoned—followed by the chicken with mashed potatoes, which was tender and satisfying. My partner loved the steak and frites, cooked just right. The apple pie for dessert was a classic, sweet ending.
Service was good friendly and efficientand the overall experience made it the best dinner of our Cape May trip.
Waiter never checked on us. When the bill came, they brought the change & shorted us $0.75 - it’s not a lot of money but on principal, I should not be shorted at all. Told the waiter that my glass was dirty & he just walked away.
Great restaurant with a great menu selection. Special was very good and the service was great. Might suggest a reservation if you have a set time as they are busy at times
30 minute wait for a half empty restaurant.
Wow , what a huge disappointment. We thought this would be a fun treat and was the biggest let down. They have the most uncomfortable seating (red cafe chairs) We were seated in the indoor porch section which was cold and felt like a fast casual experience. The New England clam chowder was served cold. The Calamari was so greasy . The entire experience felt less than an Applebee's which is very sad . The employees were out of touch on how to make guests feel welcomed. I would not recommend this establishment.

Friendly and welcoming staff! Great place for breakfast!
We love the blue pig. We first went last year around Christmas for breakfast everything was delicious and service was spot on atmosphere, well it was Christmas and blue pig/ congress hall does Christmas right. Second time we have moved down the shore and we brought our brother in law with us for a nice dining experience. Once again everything was super I had the steak frites done perfectly brother had a ceaser w salmon loved it my wife had the beet salad we both loved it. Service was crisp yet relaxed enough that we weren’t rushed and enjoyed each others company I’m sorry to say I didn’t get the servers name. Today we went again Christmas is just beginning and the place was decked. I once again went with the steak and fries, it comes with an arugula salad and everything was perfectly done steak medium as ordered and salad dressed just right my wife had the fish and chips we both loved it. Once again service was great and we did get his name but I wouldn’t know how to spell it doing him justice my wife remarked he should be in Hollywood. The gentleman was tall and with a great beard. He did look like a movie star. Needless to say he was great brought me my second ice tea before I asked which is always something my wife and I notice and appreciate. We had desert this time I had the flourless choco cake it was warm on the inside and the fruit sauce was unbelievable. Wife had apple pie she loved it. We used to own a restaurant in manyunk Phila mainly desserts cafe. When she loves a pie it’s gonna be good. Anyway couldn’t recommend the blue pig more highly and now living down here we can’t wait to go back. Enjoy

My Wife and I were in Cape May to celebrate her birthday, we dined at several establishments during our stay and all we're very good. The Blue Pig was beyond good.......it was excellent. From the moment we arrived, through dessert we were treated with the highest quality service from every staff member. And the food was superb. We each had the fillet, cooked to perfection and served by a true professional. We'll be sure to visit the Blue Pig on our next Cape May excursion.10 Stars out of 5
