“Ordered calamari and it was so salty when we got towards the bottom. Ordered the Easter special entrees (prime rib and short rib) with mashed potatoes, same thing. Too salty that it wasn't safe to eat for someone like me with high blood pressure. Manager came over making his rounds and we told him about the overly salty food today. He went to the kitchen to check and came back and agreed with us. He said they were making a new batch but never heard from him again even though he was in our area multiple times. There was no offer of comping part of our meals considering that my wife and I did not have an edible side (mashed potatoes) to go with our meal. Have been dining here for years and this has been the worst experience we've had at this establishment. Disappointed that we didn't get another side to eat with our meal.“

“This is hands down the best restaurant in NJ right now. The 8 course tasting menu is phenomenal, each dish balanced with unique flavors and texture, and beautiful plated. Our server explained each dish in detail, was extremely knowledgeable of the ingredients and dishes, and very friendly. He consistently topped off our drinks as needed and meticulously provided a new place setting for each course. The ambiance was very relaxing as we sat on the 2nd floor, with beautiful hip, modern decor. I was particularly intrigued by the faucet in the bathroom which was very unique. The overall attention to detail from the concept and design to the food and service is what sets it apart. Fine dining at its best with a relaxed atmosphere that easily compares to a Michelin star restaurant.

Free on site parking is available and it is a BYOB. A liquor store is conveniently located next door in case you forget to bring your libations.“

“On a lark, we decided to try Luna Stella for dinner earlier this week. We caught it out of the corner of our eyes as it is tucked away slightly off the Main Street of Maplewood, but boy are we glad we found it! We happened to catch them on a live music night so we decided to sit at a bar table and while the dining room was nearly empty, the bar was full. Our waiter was attentive even with a full plate of tables and the owner came over to us several times to see how we were doing. Our drinks were very good, but the food was amazing! The chicken was pounded so thin for the Milenese and fried perfectly. The short rib pappardelle had a deep unctuous beef flavor but was not heavy at all. The pasta was cooked perfectly! We will definitely be going back!“

“I would give it a 5 star if the food was bomb but it is good. I am vegan so only judging on that and thus far tried their vegan menu and it is not disappointing. Finally, a place where the drinks 🍹 taste good and proportioned well. I would recommend this place but the only thing on weekdays they run out of stuff which is ok but, call and make sure. I like this place so I will keep coming back…and the service is good.“

Muscles, tuna tartare, noodle flush, brussel sprouts, calamari salad, and more! All yum! Would absolutely go there again. We had 8-10 people and the service was excellent.“

“My friends and I have season tickets at the Papermill and always go to the Carriage House for dinner before the show. It is a cozy little place and they do not rush you at all. It is so much better to sit and enjoy a cup of tea after dinner and not have to rush into the theatre. Giovanna has been our waitress many times and is so wonderful and makes you feel like you are the only diners she is waiting on. On this visit I had the parsip and chestnut soup, roasted chicken and coconut snowball. In past I have had the short ribs, pork chop as well as the duck and all have been fabulous. The chef takes pride in his food and always comes out to ensure everyone is happy. I can't wait until the next show and dinner.“

The calamari appetizer with chili peppers and capers was the best I’ve ever had— flavors were amazing. The Parmesan-crusted salmon was also tasty and my wife loved her meal too. “One of, if not, the best place to go In the neighborhood. Fantastic bartenders, who know your name, what you drink and if not they always have a welcoming face…. Soups are great!, meals better, Thursday night Prime Rib night. Never a bad day to go except Mondays… and that’s because they are closed. Don’t forget a visit for St. Patrick’s Day!!!!“
