The food is always fresh, well seasoned with authentic jamaican flavors, and the to go orders are always shared out properly. Today I ordered an oxtail dinner that was by far THE BEST oxtails I've ever have at a restaurant!!! I had to call the restaurant and tell the person that answered the phone how much I enjoyed my meal. The service is always on point as well. The staff is very friendly and professional!! This is the best jamaican restaurant in Essex County NJ. HANDS DOWN!! Food 10 Service 10

This spot!!! I ordered curry goat with rice and mac & cheese. My friend ordered the oxtails, with rice and beans and plantains. They give you soo much food, so you will have plenty of leftovers. Everything was so good and tasty with lots of flavor!! The customer service was fine no complaints there. The parking is on the side of the building. I definitely would go back to try other food.

Mind you, I come and go to scotchies on a regular. I recently went to scotchies. nov 15,2024, I went to scotchies when I got off work. I waited in line the there was someone before... afterwards, I was next. The little girl skipped over me to serve the Jamaican guy that was in line behind me. Which was very rude to me... I have been coming there for years they do that very often. It wasn't even busy..... they will not be getting any money from again. You either have to act like you are from Jamaica or the island period to get service or noticed to not get skipped over.

Atmosphere is dark and empty opposite of inviting.... Didn't see a menu or price list. Chicken was good but a tad bit warmer warmer than cold. Rest of the food was cold and the rice was hard meaning not cooked or old and guessing on how they keep their restaurant I'm guessing it was old. It's sad how people take advantage of locals and just serve up anything
Parking: DONT PARK JUST KEEP GOING THE FOOD IS NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION

Drive by this place daily and finally decided to stop. Pricy? Yes. But their oxtail was very good. The curried goat was OK. The only thing is that upon entering the establishment, it seems dark and not welcoming. The food is uncovered, and if you get there at a bad time, it might look dry and unpresentable. The customer service sucks. They work as if they're doing you a favor. I asked the girl if that's the only rice they had because there was barely anything left and the attitude she gave me. No I DONT WANT THAT. GIVE ME THE RICE IN THE BACK for my $22 a plate. I bought 5 food so I deserve better service. Thanks.
