Casual Habana was a great surprise. The grilled octopus appetizer was perfectly cooked — tender with a nice char and packed with flavor. My kid loved the non-alcoholic cocktail, which was a really nice touch and felt just as thought-out as the regular drinks.

Casual Habana has two locations, and I’ve been going to the original Hackensack spot for over a decade. I’ve also dined at the larger New Milford location, and both have been consistently excellent.
They’re a textbook example of Cuban cuisine—savory, well-balanced, with some modern touches. Everything from appetizers to main dishes is always well-executed and beautifully presented.

Wonderfully delicious Cuban dishes. We recently had the lechón asado and the picadillo with deer plantains and they were both delicious. The lechón asado was outstanding and probably the best I've ever had. The flan de la abuela was fine too, although it doesn't come close to the one my mom used to make, but that's an unattainable standard. We'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
