Went here for a family special event and it was delicious. As a vegetarian, there weren't too too many veggie friendly dishes but there was mapo tofu (specifically requested) without meat. I've eaten a lot of mapo tofu and this was the best I think I've ever had - such amazing szechuan pepper flavor. Would go back just for that. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and the little yogurt drinks they offered at the end of the meal were a hit. Would definitely go back and would definitely get the mapo tofu.Vegetarian options: Honestly, if you don't like szechuan style food this probably isn't the restaurant for you. If you do and you're a vegetarian you're probably very familiar with mapo tofu. If that's the case then you won't be disappointed. There are at least a couple more menu items that are/can be veggie but the mapo tofu alone will make it worth a trip.Parking: Across from a home depot = a big parking lot

Really mediocre foods. Had high hopes but left with disappointment.Ordered pineapple spare ribs, balance between sweet and sour tastes were off. The dish was way too sweet and lack of the sourness.Grilled fish with sour vegetable: very pricy for the over cooked fish that comes with corn and a few pieces of the black fungus and cucumber. You have the option to add on additional items for a charge. Each items were $4 or $5.Search continues for good Chinese food in North Jersey

Grilled fish: The atmosphere of this restaurant is good. I highly recommend the couple's lung slices, garlic white meat and stir-fried bean sprouts. However, the taste of the grilled fish was a little bland and not completely tasty. Other than that it's great! The ambiance of this restaurant is quite appealing, and the owner is very enthusiastic. Highly recommended dishes include the couple's lung slices and garlic pork. The flavor of the grilled fish is slightly bland and not fully seasoned. Other than that, everything is excellent!

Hot Fish is unassuming but a great place to stop by if you are in the Hackensack Area. The restaurant seems best known for the fish (as you'd expect), which is what we got. I highly recommend the spicy option so long as you can handle spicy food. The fish is served on a heated tray and stays warm throughout the meal. We got ours with tofu and mushrooms added and loved it. The flavor was superb. The only negative was the service, which wasn't the best. We had to ask for refills on water and the check.

The spices don't have a genuine sichuan mouth-numbing kick, but the food is still tasty nonetheless. It's a really affordable place to feed a large group of people. The servers are also all super kind and attentive!

Told us 20 minute wait and sat many people before us after 30 minute wait. Very inconvenient waiting with kids

This is a fantastic restaurant, reasonably priced with excellent service, and if it were in Manhattan, I would be there so often they would think I had joined the family. I have not had such good food since I left Taipei in 1969. Some of the items on the menu may not be for the run of the mill American, but Hot Fish is, after all, a Chinese restaurant and if every Chinese family in the area does not eat there all the time, I would be surprised. I had a lamb lunch, friends had beef with scallions and green beans, and they were excellent. The fried pork dumplings were so far and away above the ordinary, I could hardly believe it. I can't wait to go back, thank you Hot Fish. 謝謝 and 再見

Amazing. You have to have a taste for eclectic food being that this is Sichuan Chinese, but this is actually one of the best authentic Chinese spots in Bergen County. Everything blew us away.

If you love spicy foods, this is the place for you. Try the crispy, spicey fish. It was very good. Side dishes were good also. The service was excellent and the prices are reasonable.
