The owner/cook and the gentleman working the front register are very professional and pleasant, and good service is important. The food, however, is terrible. Some of the worst chicken I've ever had (the Nashville hot bucket), I'm not sure what the other reviewers are eating.
You can't just dump paprika on chicken coming out of the fryer, and call it a day, that's not how you season. The taste is off-putting, and once you get past the fried chicken skin, the meat is really bland. Really, really bad chicken.

Chicken sandwich was good, but the loaded fries were a little funky- had some stomach problems in the morning. I didn't like the taste of the fries. However, the service was quick and reasonable, and I appreciated the hospitality and speed that they gave me my food.
Parking: Street parking, but sometimes a lot of cops are there and close off some side streets (as of November 2024).

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS FRIED CHICKEN & WAFFLES! The waffle was thick and cake like. It was PERFECT! The chicken tenders were well seasoned, tender, and juicy! The corn bread was very good too! The place was cute and very clean. I highly recommend Ara’s Hot Chicken in Highland Park!

Some of the best fried chicken I have EVER had!!!! It’s juicy, packed with flavor, the spices are perfect, just the right amount of breading, just the right amount of crunch, the loaded fries were amazing, and their house sauce compliments everything perfectly!! The owners are super awesome people as well!!! 😁

This was my second time there. First time was ok but they had just opened so thought I would give them another try today. My chicken sandwiches had barely any sauce the chicken was hard as a rock! They gave me medium spice level when i asked for mild. Didn't know they had naked because it was not on the menu. Had to throw away $65.00 worth of food because it was too spicy and hard.

The owner was so sweet! Restaurant and bathroom were very clean. Ac was nice and cold on a hot summer day. We tried the Mac and cheese which was super creamy and delicious. We had the medium spice chicken which was perfect. We also had the naked chicken to get a baseline. The chicken is so crispy, hot, fresh and juicy. Highly recommend and will be back.
