Small business, local spot, friendly service.

Found this place while traveling to the area for work. First bite was like a Time Machine and took me right back to Caracas. Food was amazing staff were so nice. I will absolutely share this place and be back on my next visit.

First and last time. I feel robbed, for the price I paid I expect better quality, but honestly no. Idk what happens with that high prices.

Absolutely delicious! The menu clearly marks gluten free items, and the staff is knowledgeable about celiac disease. I ordered an arepa with shredded beef and cheese. Yum! I’ll be back again!

I Love This Place, One of Our New Favorite Spots

This review will be based on our first time coming here, however the pictures reflect our most recent visit to this establishment (we forgot to take pictures the first time). Wow! This place is honestly a gem, everything from the warm waitstaff to the reasonably priced delicious entrees to the atmosphere, we cannot recommend it enough.

Having heard such great things about Venezuelen food, we were searching for an opportunity to expand our palettes. This was the only Venezuelen restaurant that we could find that wasn't too far away & we are glad it was. When we arrived, we noticed it was street parking only & thankfully there were a few spots right in front of the building. When we walked in, we had a very kind & friendly waitress that brought us to our seats. Directly in front of our table stood a rustic wooden display showcasing the country of Venezuela with a backdrop of their flag. This prominent & colorful decor piece tied together the strong authentic flavors with the vibrant glowing personalities of the staff.

Now for the food - Some of the best food I have ever ate in my life. Before I came here, I never even heard of an arepa or a cachapa.. what a mistake! Now I always look for these items on menus. We ordered the Guri Arepa, one of their signatures. Every mouthwatering delicious bite made me wish I ordered 10 more. This arepa had shredded beef, avocado, & queso. But accompanying all of their dishes, were 3 different sauces, all of which pairs greatly with all of their food, especially their arepa. My favorite is the orange colored sauce & my girlfriend loves the light green sauce. Those flavors combined together made this dish unforgettable. We also got the Cachapa with Roasted Pork. I have a sweet tooth & I rarely come across an entrée that provides an even blend of both sweet & savory flavors like this one does. The sweet corn pancake paired so well with the savory roasted pork, an absolute masterpiece. It was sensational, a well-priced filling entrée that absolutely overwhelmed us with flavors. We will always look for an excuse to come back here, it is one of favorite restaurants by far. Everytime we have come back we are consistently met with warm staff and delicious food reminding us of why we hold this place in such high regards!

I love the cachapas there, it’s soft, homemade and cheese as well. They are very friendly

If you're looking for authentic Venezuelan food in Jersey, Merey is an absolute gem. Hands down, they serve the best cachapas I've ever had—perfectly sweet corn pancakes stuffed with melty cheese that just hits the spot every time. Their empanadas are crispy on the outside and packed with flavor on the inside—each bite is a little piece of home.

But the real star for me is the asado negro. Tender, juicy, and bursting with that deep, rich flavor only slow-cooked perfection can deliver. It’s honestly one of the best I’ve tried, even compared to what I’ve had in Venezuela.

The service is warm and friendly, and the vibe is super cozy—like being welcomed into someone’s home. Whether you're Venezuelan or just love discovering new flavors, Merey is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

I feel bad since it was one of my favorite restaurants, but how the customer service has changed, and even the hand in the kitchen. I ordered some tostones and they came out literally burnt. The last time I ordered a tostone, it was completely well cooked and prepared.
& the empanada was very burnt, no good food it’s really sad
