The bakeshop is a wonderful place—to be, to shop, to browse, and I suspect to work. Both the Cook (Sam) and the Carpenter (Jo) have created a destination shop in Highland Park. The breads are crispy outside, soft inside—all of them. Yes, I’ve tried them all.Puff pastries are available in both sweet and savory. Cider donuts, brownies, blondies, mini loaf cakes, danishes, croissant, cookies, crustless quiches, and smoochie pies are just SOME of the treats you’ll find here....
I don't normally write a lot of reviews, but this place deserves to be mentioned with the highest of praises. The Cook and the Carpenter brought us pure joy in the pandemic and I adore both Sam, the Cook, and Jo, the Carpenter. They are both kind, hard-working people that truly care about the community in Highland Park.Everything we have ever bought here has been perfect.
