The Sandbox in Highlands is such a fun shore spot. You’ve got food trucks, cocktails, live music, and a beach view all in one place. We loved being able to hang out by the water with a drink while listening to live music. It’s also dog-friendly, which makes it even better for a day out with your pup. Definitely the perfect place to spend a summer day.

Loved the cheesteak from the food truck Lots of cheese & onions well incorporated. Great roll, not greasy! It was a nice hour interlude to destress from work.

The Sandbox at Seastreak Beach offers a delightful beach experience with a large free parking lot, catering to families with its sand, sun, and beach setting. The ambiance is amazing, and the drinks and friendly staff make it a highly recommended destination. Food trucks provide a variety of delicious options, including cheesesteak, empanadas, Connecticut lobster rolls, clam chowder, and pizza, with about six food trucks ranging from Puerto Rican, BBQ, ice cream, seafood, to fried Jersey favorites. There are two bars inside an area off to the side, where bands come to play after 7 pm. The venue has porta potties and a trailer with a more stable bathroom nearby. Visitors can bring their chairs and umbrellas to enjoy the small but spacious beach area, which has tables and umbrellas on a first-come, first-served basis. Some lawn seating is available as well. The water is incredibly calm, making it safe for swimming, and people were playing catch and having a great time in the calm and cool water. Visitors can walk around in the sand with no shoes, and the lively atmosphere is enhanced by live music and friendly staff. For convenience, visitors can take the Seastreak ferry directly to The Sandbox, making it easy to reach without a car. Some visitors note that food trucks may not be available until closer to dinner time, but you are allowed to bring your own food and snacks. The beach area is sweet and cozy, perfect for enjoying the bay and soaking up the sun.
